Had a similar thing with my wife. Never really been a car person, but she loved seeing me do things that make me happy and always tried to find a way to involve herself. I was working on my truck (3.0 EcoBoost swapped 1999 Ranger if anyone cares) and wanted to help. I wasn't doing any super intense work, so I decided why not, I could use some hands. After that day, she has been looking into the car mod scene on her own, and recently decided she wanted to sell her 2004 Lincoln Town Car to get something a bit more... "sporty". This is an amazing thing to me as I no longer feel I have to justify the time and money I spend on my car, and can now do so while spending time with her. Going to look at a 2014 Explorer Sport for her, as all the time we've been together she has never gotten or even wanted a new car. Her weight (Lost Thyroid to cancer at 16) always made her feel that fast cars were never big enough to fit her, and I aim to fix that misconception soon. Just wanted to share this thanks to your story of something so close to my own.

I bought my wife a used Maserati Spyder when it was 6 years old with just 7K miles on it. I flew from Florida up to Rochester, NY and the Urologist (the seller) picked me up at the airport. He had a super-nice, very large 2-story house with a 2-car garage that housed their daily-drivers, plus a detached 3-car garage with a Ferrari, a Lambo & the Maser. The only problem driving it home was it got hot in congested interstate traffic in D.C. Turns out 1 of the 2 cooling fans didn't work. I have a more "traditional" arrangement where I do all the maintenance and her only contribution is to tell me ASAP when something goes wrong.

@QuantumS1ngularity3 жыл бұрын
Italian cars can be temperamental; they are almost like humans. I used to drive (never owned sadly) a gorgeous 1990 Alfa Romeo 75 Amerika V6 in Rosso Alfa. Astonishing car. Belonged to my grandma's brother and he used to drive it daily, but being driven in city traffic 90% of the time, it was like the car was in depression. Random lights coming on and off, strange behavior on cold starts, idling in traffic or just problem with engine running smoothly. All of that used to disappear immediately when i was there to take it for a spin and put some revs in that engine. After a quick weekend drive around the area, going to the mountain, playing with the gears on that twisty mountain road, when i get back to the city, it was like the car mended itself, it was out of its depression. No lights on, engine purrs like a kitten, no troubles with cold or warm starts - everything was perfect. Only Italian cars have that human treit. They want to be driven properly. They want to experience the driving as well, they don't want to just float around in the highest possible gear and lowest RPMs. They need to express themselves. So i guess that's why the Maserati's lights started going off, after they took it for a roadtrip - it was finally doing what it was ment to be doing.
