Trans in stuck in neutral for towing, go under the car and u will find a zip tie holding it in neutral usual BMW stuff I’m sure you can find a video on it on KZbin or forums too

@@lordmmx1303In fact, the B58 engine in this 340i, is one of the most reliable engines BMW has ever made. Please check your facts before you post something online, as this has not been true since the late 90s or the early 2000s

When replacing the transmission with a used one on the f series you need to clear the EWS in the EGS Module with Autohex or any other software that can reset the transmission immobilizer. Won't show any fault codes on any scanner but will show the same symptoms you have. So likely they coded the modules but never removed the immobilizer from the tranmission.

I've been in the exact same situation, bought used transmission for f10 550i, wouldn't go into gear, no codes. Had my friend with autohex reset the immobilizer and it went into gear and drove perfectly.

That bolt on the side of the transmission allows you to put the trans into neutral,So you can roll the vehicle on and off tow truck. Simply unscrew that long bolt and remove it.your car will go into gear and work fine.

There is also a brake fluid fault on the dash. He should bleed the brake fluid system and try to check if the pedal is reading that it is pressed.

@@daqndimitrob2295 I remember on my G37 if you wanted to fully disable TC you’d unplug the brake switch by the pedal, so while the actual brakes would still work, it wouldn’t let me switch gears and brake light wouldn’t turn on when pressed

There is a screw beside the fill plug on the transmission that overrides the control putting it in neutral. You need to undo the screw to give back control to the shifter.

This is why I hate BMW. You pretty much leave the lot in a new one and it’s got codes in a week. Expensive junk. When they run, they run well. But they just constantly break down. I’ll stick with my Chevy. About as reliable as a BMW but much cheaper to fix when it breaks down lol. That said, best of luck man! Can’t wait to see it done!

Great video was really hopping to see it running and you doing some burnouts. I'm sure you'll get it running soon! This is why I'm against automatic transmissions. They break down 100% gaurunteed under normal use and they really take away from the driving experience and control of the transmission. I would never own an automatic in any of my personal vehicles. Have never yet my whole life! 🤣
