i drove a 79 transtar2 for 5 years over the road it wasnt a eagle but it had the big cam cummins and 13 speed.that truck was a beast for pulling heavy loads mostly 79000 i pulled.it never broke tlil it hit 900 thousand miles fuel pump dyed in nebraska at 2am i coasted off interstate found a gravel road about a thousand feet in.i crawled ota cab jacked it up looked both ways saw nuthing but corn.nahh more than corn coyote pack came right up howling and screaming.i crawled back up with cab tilted forward and slept over steering wheel and waited for daylight.mine was a copper metallic with a red orange and maroon stripes never seen one since that color or combo.back then had no cell phone we used a paper from dispatch to get you close and then it was your respoinsibility to have quarters to call the to guide you in.i kept alot of quarters

Definitely a 350 (855) Big Cam Cummins. The box on the left side of the engine indicates it's a Big Cam right off the bat. Definitely worth saving this 4070, but you have a lot of work cut out for you. Didn't help that someone smashed the drivers side glass allowing rodents to make a home in the cab. Also, don't throw an empty filter on the fuel system. Fill them up first. You're just inducing air into the fuel system.

I wonder if a pile of old tires might have given the cab a softer landing, or some kind of rope restraint. I would sell the cab or part it out to help other COE's get or stay on the road. Same for the engine. If I could have removed the oil pan and replaced rod bearing in the frame, I would have done so, but now that it's out, it can be sold to someone else who wants to do it, and sold intact with no rod smashed through the side of the block

Well, I think the International COE would be better with a roll on/roll off trash container bracket on the chassis in case for using the vehicle on certain jobs. It just needs an extra tandem axle, the chassis stretched to fit the roll on/roll off bracket, and a good paint job.
@davigorb

We have a single axle at work and still run 30 yard boxes with it. The cabover would shorten the wheelbase to the absolute minimum. If the frame is long enough, it would be perfect

I had a 280 Cummins on the early 90s . They erected very fuel sensitive if the system has an air leak or the fuel filter starts to clod with s++t they will either loose power or stop altogether I know from experience! The fuel gauge was reading 1/4 fuel but was empty, ran out of fuel on a motorway (UK) called out tow truck and the driver was useless and didn’t know anything about Cummins. All he wanted to do was tow me off the motorway to a garage 20 miles away . No way was I doing that ! So , I taught him how to bleed the system and left him scratching his head , disappointed he didn’t get the towing charge . These engines are pretty bulletproof if you take care of them.

I drove a 70 that only had a 250 cummins in it 13 speed Roadranger, POOCHMOBILE at best but then rear ends were geared WAY too high. Smoked the entire trips loaded or empty. Seat fell out, accelerator peddle pulled down wide open on left turns, no power steering , gear shift was so loose you hit your hands on the bunk and dash, clutch peddle took both feet to hold it down! Drove it for a year then quit and went to drive for another guy that had a Kenworth W-900 extended hood , N-14 cummins, 10 speed roadranger, power steering, etc. DREAM truck!! lol
