A little tip for these cheap smokers, which I learned how to bbq on an old Charbroil Longhorn a long time ago. 1/2 to 3/4 of a chimney of lit charcoal gets you to a solid 250 degree temp. I wouldn't go anything more, there is too much air leakage on these. Even though you use wood chunks for flavor, it still is a heat source. I replenish a 1/2 of a chimney of charcoal of choice every hour or so when temps begin to drop below 250.

Wild! It's a great smoker if you follow the instructions. Preheat the smoker for a CPL hrs before cooking on it. Never let it get passed 400 degrees. Add water under the meat prior to cooking. Patina is natural for the smoker, it will make it last longer if cared for as well.
@pheachshorbet9163 жыл бұрын
Bro! LOL I bought this grill! It was my first time hosting Thanksgiving for my family. The first try, I was smoking a Thanksgiving turkey! OH MY GOD! I pulled it out SORT OF. It took much longer than I anticipated so the whole family was really pissed off and HANGRY! There was SO MUCH ASH that it was smothering my fire and I couldn't get the temp high enough to speed up the cooking. I continue to use it as a regular charcoal grill and it does the job. But when it comes to smoking... The temperature is so difficult to control. What I have been doing is just cooking my barbecue in the crock pot first and then just hitting it with a low temp smoke for 30 minutes at the end. Believe it or not... This produces WONDERFUL results! In fact, I think you should make a video testing this method out vs. a traditional smoke. I love you both SO MUCH!

put less coal when you do the smoking part and keep the "doors" closed so wood doesn't ignite, it will slow burn and produce more smoke. No airflow = no oxyjen= less fire = temperature drops! When u keep both doors open the flow is higher an the coal burns faster.....

I started smoking with a cheap Lowe’s off-set smoker. A newbie should start somewhere right? I recommend getting an offset smoker for your first smoking meats. One advantage of having one is… Learning and understanding temperatures, whether it be meat temperature, your temp on your smoker, or even the temperature on your digital monitor. And how much of a smoke you’re producing and what type of smoke as well, a thick cloudy smoke is not good, you have to have the “thin blue smoke” look it up. Again Temperature is key for sure when you’re starting out but once you get a hang of it, it’s actually really fun smoking on a offset. If that doesn’t convince you… check out all the bbq pit masters they use offset smokers. Yea they’re professional grade and huge that can smoke to 12-25 pieces of meats. The principal, and the techniques are the same with the backyard offset smokers. They DO NOT use pellet smokers. Prove me wrong then I’ll give you 1 dollar. Oh yes… It’s also inexpensive… if you don’t want to “babysit” your awesome cheap smoker and you just suck at smoking meats. You can just throw it away and it won’t hurt your pockets.

A cheap offset smoker is the greatest beginner smoker because it’s a lot of work. You use your cheap offset for a year and then upgrade you will be a borderline pit master. If you don’t have the money or don’t want to spend big right now just buy a cheap offset. Don’t hesitate. Buy stick on gasket for the cook chamber. Buy high temp silicone for the other leak zones. Buy the rubber grommet to slip in a temp probe preferably the cheaper inkbird. Buy a charcoal chimney and use full sized logs cut smaller. It’s cheaper than bagged chunks. Don’t attempt big cooks on it. Throw a couple racks of ribs on it. Chicken thighs. Pork chops. Etc. Don’t waste your time trying a big brisket. That’s the secret. It’s not a brisket smoker. It’s not a big pork butt smoker. Keep the cooks no more than a few hours. It will run through fuel. It will be a long constant battle to maintain temperature or anything near your desired temperature lol. Keep it small. It will make you mad. It will ruin a couple meals. It will make you become a pro in no time. Do not hesitate. If you don’t have the nice smoker money right now then don’t worry. All you need is the nice smoker attitude.

Can’t get a more fair review than that. Well done Ninja! - You CAN make a good brisket with it...IF you know what you’re doing. -Temp impossible to control without ‘aftermarket’ add-ons. -Plan on using an inefficiently stupid amount of fuel. -The ash blowing all over the meat was particularly disturbing. Again, aftermarket add-on.) -The inferior paint will turn it into a backyard pile of rust in no time that the wife will NOT tolerate...no matter how good the brisket turns out.

1:00 yeah, sure... I agree... yet size is not the only difference, grilling is and it's bigger The Weber Kettle alone is perfect grill, and with some ceramic bricks (thermal insulation) and foil can do well smoking, The Smokenator can do a better job. But you can still grill perfect steaks of any size with THA grill A smoker just smokes, and slow cooks (lol people forget that one) But seriously: I agree with you, size is a big issue (no pun intended). Even the smokey mountain has limited space, second level is. It as efficient as the top one and will only work for different cooking while smoking protein on top. But the Smokey Mountain does smoke to perfection, and the price is just similar than this one you are testing...

Flimsy... it doesn't matter ... it's a smoker.... as such the maximum temperature is 325 F... brisket is a lot cooler The only cancer is weight of what's being cooked, a brisket should be the heaviest,,. But a whole turkey or two could be too But it's ok, it's a smoker Long cooking times increase danger to stumping it... but the same goes for the Smokey Mountain What about humidity control? Some BBQ cooking requires a damper to also increase humidity... I guess water plates beneath will do the trick

How long is it gonna last until it starts to rust

Escoba holding the door open...Cuban ingenuity. You’re a brave man. You should put insulation tape on the crevices where the smoke escapes. At the end, it’ll last you a month...

The manufacturers of that thing should be honest with themselves and call it a disposable smoker. I've bought plenty of $40-$50 dollar grills with the full knowledge that they'd only last probably from summer to fall with me throwing the rusty thing in the trash when its at the end of its useful life. The heat just peels the paint off the second you cook anything in it and the rusting is inevitable.

Great video Ninja! So glad you are enjoying the charcoal. I’m impressed with such a beautiful brisket on that smoker. Watch out for the Kamado owners now!🤣🔥

Anything that holds fire and meat can be used, it's how well it holds heat and how evenly it holds even temp over a two hour period that's the question. And this doesn't... lol If this is what you can afford and you don't have fabricating skills, then it's what you buy. I've built very functional, if not "pretty," smokers on my own (even if it's only a stack of cleverly placed bricks and a steel grate) for just a few dollars, that competes side by side with something that cost hundreds more. If the fire is creeping into the smoking chamber even with the damper partly closed, then try soaking the wood chunks, first. This slows the burn rate and also makes it last (a little) longer. And your tip for the day... "Chamber" is pronounced with a long "A." "Chay-mber." ;) LO... Love ya brother...

Will it last forever?: No. With proper care, like pre-seasoning before using and maintenance, like cleaning, storing will it last a few seasons?: Yes. Can it be used constantly for big huge parties? : No. Is it good for smoking a piece of meat for your family and some friends you have over? : Yes.

You need to go a little more expensive for a decent one. The oklahoma Joe Highland reverse flow smoker which I can generally find here around $300 on sale is really good. Obviously not top of the line but better than that pos

There are many good smokers out there but this one, because of the price, is very popular... but I agree with you 100% 😀

My neighbor bought one like this. I told him to save his money, and get an Oklahoma Joe or a used Yoder. He made great food on it, but damn he had to baby it all day.

WOW Now that took a lot of work just to keep this brisket going. Nice job with what you had. I agree wholeheartedly that this type of inexpensive smoker is not for the novice people with more experience smoking meats would only be able to get the results you did because of your experience. It did look really good I can’t wait for smell of vision to be a real deal. Miss ninja we need more singing from you.

LOL it came out very good but again, that smoker is not the best thing for anyone starting into this world... Thank you Johnny! 😀😀
