Stone Fish can be caught,, But the easiest way to get one is to snorkel/dive for one,, Because of them being fairly common,, You stand a really good chance at finding one.

I still say a squid would be cool. Onky thing I've read is they need moving water which you have with that big salt water pond. A squid wrapping up some small feeder fish would be cool too watch. Plus you can probably catch one

The freshwater stonefish (AKA kroki or bullrout - Notesthes robusta) is indeed a real fish. You don't want to be stepping on one, Then again, as the waters where they live are full of crocs, you don't want to be in the water with them at all.

Yes we can keep them I had one for 5 years They are not as deadly as you all think Yes it hurts it burns continuously in pain for hours but u will survive lol

I remember in the 'Dangerous Australian Animals: Cautionary Tales with First Aid and Management' book I have where a 17 year old bikie got stung on his right big toe by one and his bravado was gone in an instant, until he was finally treated in the hospital and his bravado returned. The score: Bullrout 1, Bikie 0.

In the 1990s when I was really into fish keeping before I got in the grunt of demanding jobs you could buy baby stone fish in dutch aquarium shops they weren't super comon but you could buy them. I don't believe they are deadly just supper painful its a hammer hit of pain when you get stung but you'll live unless you have an alergic reaction. Also they can get really big! bigger than most angler fish to which they are distantly related.
