Today, I'm doing an extremely quick review and first impressions of my brand new camera! I will do a more in-depth review of this camera, but only once I've used it more and in professional environments.
Like this video? It would mean a lot if you subscribed to the channel, and become a part of it's growth!

Thanks very much! Hope you enjoyed it. There's definitely some things that I'll miss, coming from a GH5 as my main camera, however I'm sure I'll get used to it 🤞

Thanks! That's definitely in the pipeline. I may also be getting my hands on an a7iii soon, so I can do some tests alongside that and the GH5 🤞

i’m in between lumix gh5 and s1 to get but still don’t know which one i go for and i heard s1 will have newer version next year

The S1 will definitely outshine the GH5 once the V2 firmware is released, but of course depends on two main factors - you're current lens selection and your needs of the camera for your work. If you don't need to shoot RAW, and aren't reliant on low light performance, you'll get more out of the GH5 due to it's more video-orientated features.

I am about to sell my a7III for S1, do u think it is a good choice, or it's better to save for a7s3? I used a lot a fhd 100p mode, s1 doesn't have that as I know, is any slowmotion usable with this camera?
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 3 жыл бұрын
I must admit, I do miss having 100fps. It's not the best slow motion in the world on the s1, and the detail just isn't there as much especially on skin tones. Also there's no audio in the S1's high speed video, whereas I believe you have audio when shooting at 100p on the a7iii? I guess the biggest upgrade moving to the S1 would be 10 bit and 5.9/6k recording. However, if you'd prefer low light, AF and that 100fps over resolution, I'd probably say stick with Sony, for now. If you can afford the a7siii, I'd definitely pick that! 240fps HD and 4K 120... it's tempting me!

The S1 is a great camera, and when the V2 software comes out early next year, it will be a 5.9k raw recording beast!

Worth mentioning that this beast is designed to last 400 000 shot as opposed to 100-150k in competitors! Excellent product!

I guess it depends on the type of work you mostly do! Low light is approx 2 Stops better on the S1 than the GH5 so for run-and-gun work like weddings or doc work, I'd suggest the S1. The GH5 is definitely more video orientated such as your choice in VFR mode, and their All-Intra option making it a great camera for studio-based or controlled shooting, but your completely right with the new update next year. 5.9k is very exciting to eventually have with the S1. Ever since I got my S1, I've always picked that up by default and left the GH5 in the bag, if that's of any help in your choice 🙂

Jordan I am looking at the Panasonic Gh5s, and then hopefully the Panasonic S1 and s1h later down the line
@JordanLeeVideo

Awesome! Just bare in mind that the S1 pretty much has the same specs as the GH5s with the bonus of internal stabilisation and greater dynamic range, whilst only about £200 more when on sale. Whilst the GH5s great in low light, the performance of the S1 is great too because of its full frame sensor. If however you already own MFT lenses then the GH5s would he a great investment 🙂

@@JordanLeeVideo I already bought third party batteries for the Panasonic Gh5s so maybe in like 8-10 months time I will buy the Panasonic S1. Granted I have a i5 processor laptop, so I am going to film in 4K and then down scale to 1080HD. At least the 1080HD will be sharp. I am also wanting to add the Fuji XT3 to my collection it's gone down in price and comes with a 16-80 lens.

@@JordanLeeVideo but if you want to film 50/60P on the s1 you have to film in APSC (crop) mode. Is this mode less sensitive in low light than the full frame mode? I have a GH5S and always film on a gimbal or tripod. thx for the nice review!

I've never had a tougher choice - Canon EoS R or the S1....
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 4 жыл бұрын
What are your intentions for the camera? The single card slot in the EOS R was a big disadvantage for me from a safety perspective. And also only 8 bit video. However, if you've already got a lot of Canon glass, you rely on autofocus, and you're video work doesn't require 10bit quality content, then I'd say the EOS R. For everything else, the S1 😃
@professionalpotato4764
@professionalpotato4764 3 жыл бұрын
The RF ecosystem isn't good to buy into. Always remember you're buying into an entire system. With the crazy cripple hammer on R5/R6, there's no future in the RF mount at least for the next 1-2 years until they sort their stuff out. There's nothing you can upgrade to that will be reliable for work, unless you upgrade to the C70 or other cinema lines in future.
