Oh and thank you for educating peeps on how unrealistic the cheap prices are even at hundreds of dollars. Most designer clothing is expensive as it takes sooo much time to make complicated clothing properly. And paying good employees and quality fabrics is majorly costly. I wish sewing basics were still mandatory in schools. Gives people appreciation for how long sewing takes etc.

A friend of mine's mother is a legit seamstress, who often would make her own clothes. They made my friends prom dress, inspired by two couture dresses she really liked. She looked absolutely amazing, but the making of the dress took her mom over 6 months and cost more than 300€ in materials alone, not counting in the hours of painstaking work of designing, sewing, and beading/embroidering the whole thing.

I wanted a couture dress (Naem Khan) for my daughter's wedding. It had a long blue satin silk skirt, lace bodice with boat neck and a sewn in clear rhinestone belt. So I took photos to the best seamstress in ATL area and the owner of the shop made it for me. It was gorgeous and fit me to perfection. I still spent about 800-1000 having it made but it was still less than buying it from Neiman Marcus. If you have to have it, you can have it made for you.

Accurate. I come from a family of seamstresses, and have worn many couture dresses and other clothes made by my mom, aunt, and grandma. It's a lot of work. My mom and my aunt actually made my wedding dress. Although my great grandma was a seamstress for the governor's wife in Kansas decades ago. I got in huge trouble as a kid when I accidentally cut up a pattern my mom was making me.

What annoys me is that so many online stores charge, like, non-scam prices for cheap scam clothing. I gotta say that I really love Hope's positive attitude. Even when things don't work out, she keeps a good attitude and a smile and it's just really refreshing to see. But that last sparkly jumpsuit is probably one of the worst scams that I've ever seen and I seriously hope that she is able to get a full refund. It wasn't even a decent knockoff like there was absolutely no structure or shape to the jumpsuit whatsoever. It looked like someone took a piece of cheap sparkly fabric and then cut arms and legs into it and just shipped it off. It was so bad it honestly looked like you could have gotten something better off of Fashion Nova or even Wish and that's just beyond ridiculous. The first two dresses were beautiful though, and I thought that this was a really cool idea for a video because I know that I've wondered the exact same thing about a lot of these clothing sites that pop up in your ads that are obviously scams.

@@hopescope I found it, it’s by Yousef Al-Jasmi, who is a specialist in hand applying Swarovski crystals to dresses (which I figured, because if it had been done by machine it wouldn’t sit on top, it would have crushed the rhinestones underneath).

I only knew what to look for because I’m studying to break into the industry. “I’m looking for a designer who specializes in high-end hand beading” is not something a layperson would know offhand. I am sure your research skills are amazing.

You should do a video where you buy Tiffany style lamps from cheap websites to see if its a good deal or if you get scammed. I’m moving to college in august and have this whole idea for my dorm; Open windows, vintage decor, visible wood, orange lights and to put it all together, a Tiffany style lamp. That last one is outrageous! But, hate to say it, the pink one is NOT the original. Or at least, it's not the one in the first photograph. Compare the two photos: the original dress has thick, raised ribbing/boning on the cups. Hope's dress does not. The front of the original dress is smooth and seamless. Hope's dress has a waist seam, and an off-center side seam. Not the same dress.

As a seamstress these knock offs are awful at the same time some of them are very impressive because it still takes skill to copy the techniques even if badly. Btw I just *love* your content, you're amazing and so fun! And a bonus for me personally is that we have the exact same body shape so I can imagine myself in these when I watch you! Makes it twice as hard not to want some of the things you put up for sale though 😂

Happy to see this video!! Supporting designers is super important, espcially in this age of fadt fashion. The prom dress i wore had gotten a lotta dupes online which really upset me because the og designer Teuta Matoshi is so so so worth the high price tag. Theyre all made to order and do custom sizes, and AH, ALL BEAUTIFUL!!!! SUPPORT ORIGINAL DESIGNERS!!!
