I can remember back in 1991-ish, our local grocery store stocked baseball cards. And they just happened to have one last rack pack of 89 Donruss. Being the poor kid with the family who wouldnt buy him cards, I remember hiding that pack in behind all the other cards as deep down as I could get them and then managed to remember exactly where I had placed it for about a week afterwards until I could scrounge up the $1.25 or so that the thing cost. Went back a week later, dug it out, and boom.. Ken Griffey Jr. Rated Rookie. I remember jumping up and down in the parking lot as I walked back to the car with my dad. 9 years old at the time and a memory that I will keep forever.

@@moesyzslak2939 Sadly I no longer have it. The only card I have from that part of my life was actually the very first card I ever owned. It was a 1986 Topps Rickey Henderson All Star card that my dad bought for me at a yard sale for like 50 cents in 1989-ish. I went through the whole teenage thing and got rid of all my cards but somehow, someway he got his hands on that card and kept it hidden from me lol thankfully! We found it in a shoebox along with his old coins after he passed away.

I remember when I was 8 my dad handed me a bunch of raw 89 topps cards after I was showing interest in collecting by this point I had gotten a ton of football cards never dabbled in baseball and I thought he was gifting me some ancient heirloom. Anyways 20 years old now. still have all the 89 topps he handed down. Probably one of my favorite sets for that reason alone. Your channel is freaking sweet man. Cheers from California!

The 1990 Score "Bo Knows" card #697 is the best card of all time. It just says "BO" on the back in a purple B and a black O. I don't care how many they made, priceless to me!

The 90 Upper Deck was what got me back into collecting. I love the clean design.
@timeltringham97935 жыл бұрын
I was at the 1994 Home Run Derby as well. That ball that Frank Thomas hit to left center that hit the facade of the upper deck is still the longest ball I've ever seen hit in person, an estimated 519 feet. I remember it like it was yesterday, because Thomas was (still is) my favorite player and the ball hit the Will Clark banner (I went to the derby with my sister's boyfriend at the time) and Will Clark was his favorite player, so we thought that was cool and ironic.

18:20 “How about some 92 Topps; My brother absolutely HATES 92 Topps...” LOL BY THE WAY, you could use a pen light for the scratch off card. Go in pitch black room and hold light behind card. The scratch off becomes less evasive and a bit see through. I literally had a tiny lightbulb penlight, would go in a dark closet and figure out the correct ones to scratch. I won a lot of gold cards that way. I think you should try it, and scratch a winner!! Thanks for the entertaining video.

I actually really like the simple design on the 1992 Fleer cards with the easily readable player names in block letters on a light green background and the team logo is above that. In my opinion that design is one of the best looking ones of the 1990s card designs.
