Surprise! The NSX isn’t doing anything different or better than anyone else, so moot point. It’s value and the value on older models is dependent on units made, popularity and how the car was made (mostly by hand rather than machine) so that’s why you’ll pay $40k or so for a 91 NSX. Great car overall but there’s better out here. 💁🏻♂️

Once again that word “Underrated”, it’s the wrong word, the NSX is dismissed because everyone thinks that if it’s not a Ferrari, Porsche, mclaren or Lamborghini it’s not a super car nor worth the investment. The Engine is superior to those aforementioned, the technical design in its approach out weighs those cars as well, because the Japanese invest so many years in the making of their cars that the likes of Ferrari continually release several updates and models in that time scale. Underrated...? Wrong word, it’s just doesn’t come to mind.

I’m not sure why you are so surprised. The remit of the original NSX was to be a super car you could drive everyday. It hit the Mark so ridiculously well that it was a victim of its own success. Nobody saw a car that never broke down, had no foibles and was bloody brilliant to drive as a super car. They just thought it was a top of the range part of the normal Honda range. But those who owned or drive one had an immediate love affair with it. New one is the same, brilliant in every respect. Just drives too well and the badge doesn’t give you snob value. But the Japanese don’t build cars with that in mind. All they care about is how you feel in the drivers seat. A truly amazing car that’s overlooked by badge hunters and glory boys.

In all fairness, they are 2 very different animals: the GTR is a Japanese muscle car with a larger bulging body, backseats and raw power for drag racing and straight line acceleration. The NSX is more of a track weapon with a lot of New eXperimental Sportscar (NSX) stuff such as torque vectoring, hybrid drive-train, electric mode etc and has a low-slung supercar body with 2-seats and engine behind you. They are both great value for the money. Great video as always Paul! Been a fan since you slept in your R8 and decided to put a Xmas tree on top ;)

Reasons to buy: 1) Noone else has one regularly covered on the platform. 2) It's cheap to buy and to run 3) Its Hybrid, therefore kinda' future-proofed against the outlawing of gas powered cars. 3) It looks nicer and different from the competition even though it's 6 years old. 4) It's as fast as a 911 Turbo S. 5) It's more comfortable than an R8 V10 plus. 6) It sounds awesome (growl, turbo whistle, and blow off. Best from both worlds). 7) I love it so it must be worth owning!

The engineering behind the Honda brand is to often overlooked and underrated, the civic type R has been the benchmark hot hatch for as long as I can remember. They make good reliable cars but when they make a fast model it is often late to market relatively to the competition but when it arrives it is extremely good but unfortunately to late as the consumer has already purchased elsewhere and sales suffer, then the do a facelift and make perfection better but the car is overlooked.

I'd say go for the NSX. It's more exclusive and desirable. The NSX is also known for holding it's value better, despite having a Honda badge.

GTR is old news. Done so many times before. NSX would get you a whole new level of respect.

Heavy, non mechanical, not enough visceral feedback as other mid-engines. If you want a GT cruiser, cool, if you want a drivers car, this is not it.

I feel like the reason this this thing does and always will look modern is because nothing else looks quite like it, and since it is a sleeper pick our brains never got used to it. So glad to see some quality NSX content!!!

Yep swap it Paul, it’s a better car and it’s not a car you see at all on KZbin, the content would be awesome 👊🏻

Lol at him actually just enjoying a car more than he knew he could... Funny thing is, this is Exactly how the original NSX became a legend... Over time everyone realized how good it was and started enjoying how awesome of a car it was... The same thing might happen with the current gen NSX

ONE OF THE SCARY ASPECTS OF THIS CAR IS THE PRICE OF A NEW ENGINE IF YOU MANAGE TO HURT IT. it is up there like 30-40% of the cost of the actual car from what I have read and heard from a former owner. Geez it sounds menacing hey, one of the few Hondas i like. I think with a piggyback ecu it runs low 10's too.

I don't think people discount the car because of the badge so much as they wanted the car to be closer to the old NSX than it ended up being (lightweight, manual, rwd). Amazing car though, if you're not a purist.
