I'm also HSP. I have neighbors that think everyone wants to hear their music. They can go until the early hours of the morning. I'm just grateful my ear plugs can muffle most of it. I might be investing in some noise cancelling headphones also.

My daughter uses some of these - the ones that will also play music without letting in outside noise . They were expensive from John Lewis (UK) BUT that was years ago and they are still going and have been worth every single penny we couldn’t afford 😳👌👌

I have noise canceling headphones and I don’t know how I survived my first 58 years without them. They were expensive, that is true, but my peace of mind is priceless. When I first was learning how to use them, I was in a running vehicle. When I put them in my ears, I wondered who shut off the vehicle. It was blessed silence.

The moveable little desk is a great idea, I think I'll try one.. I write, and sometimes I just can't focus in my usual spot. I think a small move might help. Thanks for the idea.

I meant to comment about my massages, I saw a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist for a year, I had shoulder bursitis severe, and fascia wrapped around shoulder to wrist, I stayed in a 10 of 10 pain, she had to hold my arm in one of her arms due to pain and zero range of motion, it took a year, I went twice a week 2-3 hrs at a time, it took a year to break up all the fascia. Left arm, my beloved sister had passed, the Matriarch, its was called broken heart syndrome.. finally I felt a shift w/shoulder release, I knew I was on the mend. I swear by the healing arts of massage w/right person. I am grateful I found a professional. Nice person, I still see her at times. Needless to say the cost was pricey, I was fortunate to have the cash at the time.

I agree, Ana! I have a small, metal, beat up desk I found free alongside our road. It has a few cubbyholes on top, and one drawer, but I use it for everything, and I love it because it's all mine! Although I keep my house clean for everyone else, my desk can be as neat or as messy as I like, and no one cares! Enjoy your little table. Home is where you find it!

"I didn't choose to be born a highly sensitive person " - me either! I haven't tried headphones like that but sometimes I play my electronic keyboard with ear buds if someone else is home when I need to practice! They probably aren't judging me but I don't like knowing someone can hear my mistakes. We also own a regular copy machine rather than use the printer ( or going to a public one) because the toner for the copier is much less expensive than printer ink. I like staying home, doing my crafts by myself, and having as little interaction with others as possible..... I call our sofa my "island " and blockade it with my knitting project bags when I'm not actually sitting there! 😉

Hello Ana🖐. Interesting video. Different people need different things. I also use earplugs at night, especially when I sleep with an open window. My place is quiet, which I'm grateful for, but still I need them, when the window is open. And I also have a scanner, printer and copy device at home and I love it, it's so useful. I could also use the one at work (I don't always want), but sometimes I need to print something at the weekend, so it's very useful and no need to run to a cooy shop, a time saver. Great investment. As I said, everybody has different needs and I'm glad that we can buy what makes us feel more comfortable. Have a lovely week 😘

Your essentials are really essential, I couldn't live without them either. I love how you take such good care of yourself. For me, earplugs are a survival tool. I have used earplugs for decades, also always the same ones. When I lived in the States, I even had them sent to me because they weren't available there. Your foam roll is very interesting to me because I had a very hard one and gave it away, it was too painful to use. I'll have a look whether I can find a softer one. Your small folding table is great! Moving around with your desk to a place where you feel good is so important.
@anagoldberg
@anagoldberg 18 күн бұрын
Oh, I understand your earplug preference! I'm already a bit stressed that I won't be able to find exactly the same ones here in Georgia 😅 And once I tried a harder foam roll and hated it (I think it had some sort of plastic foundation)! While a softer one has made such a difference!

Noise cancelling headphones yay! They have been a godsend since I got mine. Before I had them I would use industrial earmuffs in the supermarket and other noisy confusing places. Now I can listen to music while I am shopping while avoiding the shop's music and tannoy announcements

This video got me thinking (again😅 how do you do it?) We always have this image of minimalism where people own very few things but instead rely on sharing or using public or private services instead (like not owning a car or bike but renting one or sharing) This almost always involves some form of organisation skills, making appointments, communicating with others, compromising on privacy or personal space... things that actually disturb the precious inner peace we try to achieve by living minimally 🤔
@anagoldberg
@anagoldberg 18 күн бұрын
This is such a great point! I've been thinking about it too, how frugal minimalism can lead to having MORE stress and unwanted interactions, noise and anxiety. It's about priorities after all....

I'm still looking for something to block out noises at night. I live next to the train station but I really can't do earplugs or something like that (that might be a PTSD thing, having to stay alert or vigilant?) Nooow I was thinking about white noise, so that I don't focus to much on the voices outsife my window and what they say (almost never nice things after 2am, exept the occassional drunken "I love you bro") I am seriously considering buying or making a little fountain (the cats might like that too 🤔) but I haven't decided yet

I have a multi tiered noise protection system. 😅 For stores I use Loop earplugs, for sleeping I have regular foam earplugs - the slim kind because any others hurt my ears. For home I have noise canceling earbuds and ear defenders (they look like headphones) that I can use together or separately. I decided to go the earbuds and ear defenders route instead of noise canceling headphones because at night I can lay on my side with just one earbud to listen to audiobooks. I don't even live in a loud neighborhood except someone is always mowing or leaf blowing, and the bane of my existence, barking dogs. 😅

I bought noise canceling headphones a few years ago (that actually reduce not cancel the noise) and I always wear them when flying. I arrive at my destination feeling refreshed instead of exhausted! I wish I could wear ear plugs because sometimes they would be handy, but wearing anything in my ears is a no go, unfortunately. I can't imagine being without my printer, either. I use it for work mostly and it is super convenient. I'm glad you have things that make your life easier!

Earplugs is definitely must have for HSP 😊 I use Loop earplugs. They look like headphones, so you can also wear them outside in noisy places without looking weird 😄 They are also more comfortable in the ears than classic foam earplugs, in my opinion, and fit very well.

I am right there with you when it comes to massages! I cannot bear anyone touching me in that way. Also, I have not been to a hairdresser in decades, as I cannot stand anyone touching, massaging my head. That goes for manicures and pedicares as well. I cannot express how much I hate it!! I consider all those things an intrusion and offensive. Well, everyone has their own thing.

I am also highly sensitive in a variety of ways. I use wrap around dark sunglasses when the world becomes too much (pretty often lately) and it helps a lot! We also only have one colorful room (which is VERY colorful) and the rest of our place is in neutrals only. I do want to try n.c. headphones, I have regular headphones that I wear to dull the sound. I also use an acu-mat which really helps with the pain and tension that occur when my nervous system gets especially "excited", lol!

Hi Ana Im watching the video about the things you dont buy any more. I do agree with almost all of it ,however ,no at all about buying ,what you called "leather" to me it is another animal skin ,that gave its life unwillingly for humans unnecessary, diets. I was a " leather" lover i used to own more shoes than i could wear ,jackets and more ,untill i discovered that dressing simple and cruelty free ,made my life much better. Yes ,these items last longervand so on .only that it is possible to wear other materials without suffering ,it is however other lives suffering You said that " i dont thing any good..." ask the cows...❤

I appreciate you sharing how acquiring items ($3-$200) is imperative for health (if it’s something you need), and it reduces stress. It’s not a want; it is a need. I’ve spent many years suffering through stresses because I didn’t believe I had the right to ask for these types of helps. I’ve always felt selfish because I hid in the bathroom for quiet😢. Or I need natural fabrics because I cannot tolerate the feel of😢 synthetic fabrics. Now I know it is self preservation to acquire these needs. 🥰
