The only original option for that truck was a chrome smoothie that matches the front, all step and hitch bumpers were aftermarket, usually flex n gate and dealer installed!

I remember when pickups came without rear bumpers because they were an option... the dealer would either supply them, like this truck, or else they'd sell them without a bumper if the customer chose to buy the truck without one. So, it is a dealer bumper that was originally on it when sold, but it isn't a "factory" bumper. In some states, they still sold trucks without a rear bumper into the late 80s before the Federal laws changed and required them. I'd leave this bumper on the truck.

My 1991 Ford f150 custom came without a rear bumper. The painted deal installed bumper was more than a Chrome one from United Bumper in St Louis MO. Home town. I'm retired from the automotive repair world. I bought wholesale.

My 1966 F100 that my dad bought new came without a bumper. There were many companies building aftermarket bumpers those days. Mine has a Luverne brand made in south Dakota.

Hi, in Southern California we installed "Frank Fey" step bumpers on new trucks. I did this in the late 60's and the 70's. Very few trucks came with OEM factory rear bumpers at this time.

@@doughaven-rf8id I own a 1966 F-100 with no rear bumper. I live in Tennessee and about ten years ago a city cop pulled me over for no rear bumper. I explained that in 1966 they were optional and pointed out the working light on the license plate mounted by the factory under the bed. The officer let me go.

Here is an old tire trick. When you need to use high balance weights (I was told over 2 ounces) dismount the tire, rotate it 180 degrees, and remount it again. If the he weld seems on the wheel and the seems in the tire line up they will need larger weights to offset the combined weight. As a benefit the tire will roll smoother too.

The bumper is not a "Factory" bumper. The truck came with either a factory bumper or no bumper. The bumper on it is a "Dealer" bumper, hence the Dealer Name and Location. That bumper is nostalgic and helps to tell the truck's history. I personally would leave it on the truck. GREAT first give away vehicle ! Thank You for making this happen ! Much Love from Ohio !
