Maybe it's not an expensive watch but there's something about the passage of time that elevates even a humble watch to a whole new level. Most of us will go an entire lifetime without ever owning a Rolex. The Muigos of the world give the rest of us a chance to wear something interesting on our wrist.

I wish people would stop talking about Rolex, they make decent watches but beyond the hype they are nothing special and yes I can afford one.

Old watches that still run to this day, shows the pure mechanical engineering capacity and qualtity that was valued in the past even in a common watch for the working class. As a sidenote, it would be nice to add some music to the background if no audio.

If I put music on people complain, if I don't put it on they complain. If a creator isn't crazy, he will become one.......😵💫😵💫🤭🤭

That is crazy. I like the video either way, so no worries there. Thanks for the response and a good video. I am just learning about the finer workings so they are a good help. The dial process with the laser was cool. @@watchrestorationchannel1061

I really like these old watches. Manual wind is, to me, a more personal connection with your wristwatch. Sounds silly, but.

That is the most basic, fundamental wrist watch so far. This is the first video I have ever seen which has show the service of a watch that was absolutely the most fundamental mechanism ever and I say BRAVO! I really learned a lot. Thank you for the video.

I love that you've made this video. There is so little documentation of these old watches. It might not be fancy movements. But some of them have pretty cool dials and designs. Like the one you've shown. Thank you for sharing :-)

I'm glad you posted this video. I own several Rolex watches including a very nice Daytona and a new Cookie Monster Sub date, but to me my most valuable watch is a worn out Tag Heuer which cost less than $2k when I bought it 20 years ago. How much you love a watch is the real measure of its value.

That inconsistency in working is a product of wobbling in the rubies and shafts. It can be fixed. It is a nice watch, it does not matter that you have bought it for 13 € or 1300 €. It has a value itself by the work you have added and the knowledge that you have involved for fixing it.

the word RESPECT, just does not convey what I think of Watch Makers. I work in engineering, I work on motors and moving elements that can weigh tons. What I do is NOTHING in regards to skill when compared to some person who works on metal pieces weighing as much as a small ant. Beyond Respect.

Weird to see a movement with little to no jewels. Other than the cap jewel on the balance assembly. When I reassemble watches I start with the train of wheels, sometimes do the pallet setup or the mainspring bridge which then leads to the ratchet and crown wheel. Which then I turn to the dial side. Usually the intermediate wheels and then the keyless works. That’s just my approach.

What a great video. Fascinating to watch. Such an odd watch with a rather beautiful dial. Refine the dial a bit, nicer case, better movement and I bet you'd end up with a sharp watch.

I have an Elgin from the 30´s that stopped working. The watchmaker told me not to spend money on it because the movement has very few jewels. Does that make sense? After all, it has worked fine for almost 90 years...

The watchmaker is right, it's not economically worthwhile. But if you don't care because it's a good memory for you, then do it.

Your channel looks like it would be worth watching, but I simply can not watch a video without narration. What starts out as interesting and enjoyable quickly starts feeling like work for me. I will keep checking back to see if you start narrating your videos. If you do, I could certainly see myself watching and subscribing to your channel.

If you have never disassembled a watch movement I don't recommend starting with this one. It's not the simplest! Instead, I advise you to buy a good watchmaking book such as "Watch repairing" by Donald de Carle and start studying the theory. Inside there are all the tools you will need. Subsequently you can practice on pocket watches which are the easiest because they are larger. If you don't follow these steps, damage is certain. Good luck!!

I also immediately thought of a Baumgartner, I checked the BFG movements I have, they are also Roskopf but the balance is mounted differently. The only 10 and a half line movement that I found very similar to mine is the EB 1199. I could be wrong.... Thanks for the comment!!

I read some comments that matching perfectly my views on watches. I also own a Rolex and few other good watches, but my favourite one among all of them is a humble Citizen. Why? Is telling me a story, I was presented with that watch from all my co-workers on leaving England for another Country. A Rolex has absolutely no money value compared to the emotional value of a watch like my humble Citizen chronograph. That is for me “The watch”

There are some well made East European watches. IMO this watches parts look better manufactured, than EE watches. With a nice oyster style case too. I like how the dial “rubies” catch the light. A Middle East copy of a Swiss brand? I’ll leave it with the experts.
@watchrestorationchannel1061 Жыл бұрын
I didn't understand the comment well, this watch is not from middle east, it was probably assembled in Europe. I agree with you, many oriental brands have nothing to envy to some Swiss models, the Grand Seiko for example....
