I bought a T480 early this year and it’s not too bad. Solid, dependable, pretty powerful. Only major annoyances with it are lack of multimedia keys and I personally think the keyboard is okay, but not great.

Those new laptops that are being sold for 200$ to 250$ is basically highway robbery. 4 GB of ram? Seriously? Windows is already going to take up half of that.

You won't shock yourself and die from a low voltage laptop battery. Careless prodding around might short the battery and result in an eventual fire, however.

Just ordered a refurbished one. Hope it comes as advertised, at the very least, without the BIOS being locked🤞. Would be a pretty decent upgrade from an Acer Aspire V5-471! Great vid and thanks for the laughs!

I have an IBM 600x that gives off an oldy worldy smell from the fan vents as well as a peculiar odour that comes from the decaying rubberised coating prevalent on laptops of the time😂😂

I have a Lenovo L14 gen 1 with a Amd Ryzen 3 pro 4450u and a E595 R5 3500u. I just bought a T480 i5 today on ebay for $55 it boots into bios but its all bare bones needing ram, storage, and a battery. All the components was the stuff I was gonna replace either way if I ever bought another Thinkpad. So now I am planning for this laptop to be a Hackintosh along with being my first device that I try linux on. Ima give arch a shot on it to see how I feel for it.

How did it turn out?
@Pr.2104Ай бұрын
@@SkyQuest2K8 Upon receiving it I figured out quickly as to why it was sold for so low. It had a SV password on it so it was bios locked. BUT when I started researching for ways to reset it I found a forum where they made it so you can flash bios that have passwords in them and remove it by using Lenovo's auto patcher. I followed through and got it unlocked for me to access. So far I just have Ubuntu since Arch honestly had me overwhelmed. As well as Windows 11 so my family can use it. I have 2TB of storage from its nvme and sata part along with 32gb of Ram. Smooth just like my L14 if I could I'd switch to a T480 to be my daily but I got all my software in place on my L14 so theres that. Haven't had time to get into Hackintosh as my 2nd semester is coming a close I've just been focusing on school work

What's your favourite Linux distribution? I like Solus because it's rolling release and very stable. The new Solus XFCE works great even though it's a Beta release. Just install all updates and restart for the latest fixes and newer v6.10 kernel. Once the stable release of Solus XFCE is out, just have to install updates and restart, no need to install from scratch. Maybe add/remove some packages. Can you do a review of Solus XFCE? Thanks! I totally under you about the T480 being boring. Its like a regular VW Golf (non GTI or R models) its good all around but we need some character to love the machine. I have Ubuntu running it on which makes it slightly more interesting I guess but its not enough.

Hello, I’m planning to buy a refurbished ThinkPad T480, but I have some concerns. The seller won’t allow me to open the laptop to check the hardware, but they’re giving me as much time as I need to inspect it. I know about the usual checks, like testing the display and keyboard, but I’m wondering what else I should inspect to ensure it’s in perfect working condition. Could you provide some advice on what specific things I should check without opening the laptop? I want to make sure everything is functioning properly before making the purchase. Looking forward to your guidance!

Make sure you are able to open the bios and make sure it's not locked. If I can do that anything else inside could be repaired or replaced.

The T14 gen 2 with an amd cpu would have better graphics for light gaming. Although the t480 is still plenty for coding.

rethink your choice. The T480S might be more "portable" and slightly thinner and lighter, but if you need more battery capacity the T480 gives you more options. Using 61+ or 61++ external batteries will bring you whole day of power independence (depending of usage)
@Abhijay_TT14 күн бұрын
