I can tell you exactly what happened with no more heroes 3. An employee put the gamecase out in the used ps5 section and kept the disc and big box in the drawer. A second employee filled your order and didn't go to the shelf to get the empty game case to ship with the rest.

When I don't get the case on a pre-owned game I'll go into the store and look for a complete pre-owned copy, I'll buy it for the second time, then I'll take the price tag off of that case and put it on the ugly gamestop case and then I return it the next day. The employees never remember if the game I bought the day before had the original case or not. The price tag is the same, the game inside is the same, and the ugly case has the same name as everything else. Been doing this for years.
@scottneubert630119 күн бұрын
An easier option is just go in and talk to an employee, say I got this dumb case can I swap it out for the actual copy. That's if they have another copy of the pre-owned game in store. Also been doing that for years.

GameStop’s not a bad place to shop, when you know what you’re doing. Only buy pre-owned games in store (or be prepared to return them) Newer pre-own games are safer to buy online (usually come complete). Pre-order new games. If GS employee hands you an open “new” game, never let them use a sticker seal, if they insist, decline the game and walk away.

Also double check them. I bought a copy of Doom slayer edition on xbox one... went to play it one day and found out it was doom eternal instead. Thankfully it was only $5, but still. Now I always double check my games before I drive off. If you ever buy new... and they give you a "unsealed copy" make sure they put a plastic sleeve on it... so that way if you need to return they don't tell you some bs later on as if you opened it and they won't accept it.

Just some info, that may help with returning games. Return them in store to avoid shipping fees. Also last year I ordered used games from GS. I Got A plague tale requiem (new for $20), Tactics oger, Trails from zero and severed steel. A plague tale came on a generic case and was clearly used. The employee game me a refund for it and the system counted it as a $60 game. Needless to say I got 3 games for free.

The only good thing about unexpected “surprises” when buying with GameStop online is that you can just take it to any store and they will process it - heck, I’ve even had to return the occasional “new” game, because they didn’t even bother to ship it in the original case!
@Rine.465619 күн бұрын
Yeah, after I bought Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition for PS5 when it was new from their website, GS shipped me a copy that was 100% pulled off a shelf from some store (not new, not original shrink wrap, just guts put back in, even had the price sticker on it), but they had no problem charging me a new price tag for it. I ended up returning it and getting a real new copy from Amazon (honestly, the only reason I ordered from GS was they were the only one who had it listed at the time).
@PeopleEqualShit666114 күн бұрын
Well to be fair, Game Stop has to gut one of their new copies so they can put the case on display. They put the disc in the drawers in front of the actually new, sealed copies. When they’ve sold all their new copies, they have to sell you the gutted copy and they reseal it with that ugly plastic with the sticky flap on and claim it as “new”. But I also don’t understand why they can’t just make a display cover art like they normally do instead of gutting a copy.

@b4rs629 For me I really like having the original cases I used to just put my games in big CD storage cases when I was a kid because back then I did not care as much but as an adult I regret not having the official case for a lot of my retro games CIB so I don't do this anymore and have all my physical games in their original cases. I know it's technically harder to store them this way but it's not so difficult to where it's become unbearable for me and I feel like before it got to that point I'd probably just sell some shit I don't really want anymore to make room for stuff I do want.
@b4rs62916 күн бұрын
@marky3609 ya, usually keep original cases for everything especially my nintendo games. I got a tiny room so I had to cut down to make space for 4k movies and other things. @marky360916 күн бұрын
@b4rs629 Oh I see you Yea I get you. Another thing that was a problem for me when I was a kid tho is I feel like those DVD binders damage your disc because I had a alot of games that worked perfectly when they were in their case but after started putting them in the binders they'd have issues playing on my various consoles
@b4rs62916 күн бұрын
@marky3609 ya, that's one of my biggest worries atm. I'm kind of paranoid about that. I might just have to add another small bookshelf. I bought a good amount of cartoon network and various TV shows... that I'd love to display in their original packaging, but the big box sets make it hard to get the discs out as well. I'm not even sure what to do. I'm kind of torn between having the original packaging, but I dislike how jam-packed the discs are when it comes to these TV shows. It felt like I was about to snap the disc in half when trying to remove them to put them in the binders. They were so stubborn to get out as if I was pulling teeth.

I'm a collector and I buy from GameStop semi-regularly. When purchasing online I usually only buy when a B2G1 sale is going on. A few things I've learned over the past 3-4 years: - As far as getting cases included, I've had pretty good luck with Wii, Wii U and PS Vita games (although Vita games are rarely in stock) - you can return games purchased in a B2G1 deal, so I just return any that come in really bad condition. I'm a bit more lenient than other collectors on condition, if it comes with the cover art I'm usually happy unless it is super beat up. I recently got a copy of Four Swords Adventure from them with the case, while Mario Golf on GameCube came with no cover art and disc was horribly scratched so I returned it. - I almost never buy DS or 3DS games from them unless it's in store and it has a case, bc those almost never come with the case in my experience I'm not going to say GameStop is a great company or anything, but there are deals to be had on occasion, and if you visit the store regularly the membership is absolutely worth it.

Also helps if the dude behind the counter is a gamer bro cuz my dude has good costumer service helped me out and is pretty chill to talk to, if you don’t have a dude like that still go and return it cuz yeah sure it will take time but better to get your money back and get the game with its og case

If you buy the last game they have of a specific title they put the game back in the on-shelf box and sell it new to you. I’ve had this conversation multiple times over the years with GameStop employees and told them they can just print duplicate labels just as good to put in placeholder boxes on the shelf, thereby leaving all games new and unopened but it’s a corporate policy they can’t avoid. Still, a good employee wouldn’t care and make it look just as good for each game title.

If I bought a copy of Pokemon Xd gale of darkness for $200... it better be near-mint /w a manual atleast /w the poster possibly as well would be ideal. People want to relive their childhood... I'm not too big on having the manuals... as long the case & artwork is in good-great condition and the game works... I'm happy.
