So even if it was higher quality, she probably paid a much cheaper wholesale price for it. Her total was probably around £5. Secret crush on glam to be fair putting zoella and the Z on everything adds up. If you can't design yourself you have to hire someone to do it. It also makes the value of the items go up because they're custom. It's not £50 worth, but I'd say £20 would probably be a fair price. However, her idea went bad by adding the Z to everything. Dying at the salt from Zoella fans here. Guys, it's fine to love Zoe ans her videos and still criticize her. No one is above reproach. Literally no one. If I'm dropping fifty quid on a twelve door advent calendar there better be things behind those doors that are absolutely justifiable for the price being charged. I agree she won't screw up like this again; you should, however, consider very carefully what you're getting simply for owning something with a Z on it. I mean, if you go to Tescos, for instance, and drop £10 on a box of christmas crackers, you know exactly what you're gonna get inside-a naff joke, a tissue paper crown and some little kitschy piece of plastic crap like a compass or a spinning top. You know that! Harrods sells Christmas crackers too, and if I dropped £50 at Harrods for those, I do not want the same tat I could get at Tescos, simply bc the box says Harrods. When you pay for a name, you're expecting some bang for your buck, not Tescos crackers at a Harrods price. And Harrods will actually tell you what prizes will be found inside the crackers as well so you know what you're getting. It's just an example, but we all know how much Zoella loves christmas if you're a fan of hers. This, frankly is a shit deal when you're paying for the name of someone who adores christmas. I'd expect to see some of that personal passion inside that calendar, particularly knowing her love for the holiday and how long she claims to have worked on the calendar. Just think before you blindly defend her... you know if that was what you found inside your advent calendar, you'd be really disappointed. I mean, confetti, stickers, 2 tiny cookie cutters, a pom-pom (how christmassy), 2 candles, a teeny notepad, small copper pen, an ornament (which is ceramic... What if someone dropped that calendar at the warehouse or while stocking and it broke and that's what you got on day 1?), a room spray and a zip-up case that frankly doesn't look big enough to hold your makeup, brushes, act as a pencil case or hold anything you might actually need? I will hand it to Tanya Burr... she may have a 12 door calendar but it's cheaper, and from all accounts you're getting a lot for what you're paying for. Hopefully next year, the advent calendar idea will be scrapped or vastly improved upon with a much lower price point for her fans. I've noticed she just doesn't leave the house a whole lot now to come out and meet her fans at official events. That does disappoint me too. She used to do that before she was seriously getting treatment for her anxiety so I don't think it's much to ask for some meet n greets here and there without charging an extortionate amount of money for a selfie. I actually prefer Rosie's version of the calendar. It's kind of like lucky dip and way more fun to unwrap little presents everyday and get something halfway decent that didn't break the bank. If, as a kid or young teen, that's what I'd wanted for Christmas (and it would have to have been my xmas present at £50), I'd be gutted with what I found inside. Truly gutted.

I think its an excellent video, I can fully understand & appreciate there's NO hate here, Its just an informative, detailed show of products at a cheaper price. I honestly wouldn't have bought her advent calendar anyway, but its always nice to have information for future reference. I like the idea of making my 2 sons & my nieces homemade advent calendars, and by watching this video I've now got great ideas especially for female 1s. Those Rosie Days Everyone in the comments are blaming Zoe for the highly priced advent calendar but the truth is that she doesn't choose the price! In a video a month or so ago she responded to this controversy and said how utterly hurt she was that the big box companies that she is selling her product to consumers are the ones who choose the price and neglected to look at Zoe's market, which is tweens and can't afford this. I hope this cleared up any blame for Zoe. She is essentially stripped from her speech on what the price should be so don't blame her. The box quality was so bad. I ordered it with my own hard earned money thinking it would have good quality things in it and have more than some small items (this was before the news and stuff). When it arrived it was literally bent in half, Candles were broken and cookie cutters were bent along with the note book. Shows what you get when you finally decide to support someone and then they also come out with an in-genuine apology.

I’d be pretty annoyed if I got stickers in my advent calendar. She has an audience of all ages watching, I don’t see many of the younger ones paying £50 and for a “homeware” style one too. So the contents weren’t fab. I feel bad for her really, but I also have a similar opinion that as the designer or being involved with a project with her name attached to it, she must have known the price.

This was really fun and good to see what you can get for so much cheaper but pretty much the same stuff! I don’t understand why some people are giving hate on this video like it’s clearly not to shade Zoe :/ just be careful with those candles I have the two exact ones and for me they produced black smoke and got very over heated and burnt where it was placed on my shelf so just be careful xx

She must have been given a manufacturing price point and an intended rrp price when she spent “a year” designing this calendar, otherwise how was she supposed to keep within boots’ budget?! No company designs products without looking at their projected spending and revenue on that particular product. I smell bullshit when she says she didn’t know the price 😑 and just like with any more pricey shop, you can walk into a whole sale shop or somewhere like the range and find the exact same stuff for a fraction of the price. I’ve literally been in Tesco and seen glass jars for £10 and then walked into the range and found the same ones, labels, markings and all for £1.50. So the quality of the Poundland stuff, I’m 99% sure is akin to the crap in zoellas calendar. Jeeeeeez
