Should have headed over to the Spinergy booth to see glass spokes, well polymer fibers in glass phase. They also erroneously claim they don't stretch, but clearly they do, as you say stretch is needed to tension a wheel. Solid silica glass would make a poor spoke as any bending would easily break it, but it's still an elastic material. Could use it as fibers, but there are better choices, such as Spinergy's.

There are different grades of spokes that may help you out. A good builder with a proper rim and hub will be able to build you a long lasting wheel. A robust rim will help the spokes out quite a bit.

I broke a spoke now what? LBS: just buy a new bike. We have a lot of good bikes you can put on credit. Reminds me how the bike mechanic at a shop I visited didn’t know what a bottom bracket was and claims they don’t come in different lengths. He highly suggested I just buy a new bike for $5k instead of a $25 bb for my chain ring to be distant from the frame.

Hey guys, some of the teeth on my bikes cassette are bent outwards, is there any fixing it with finesse and pliers like a rubbing brake roter or is it ruined?
@andygilbert18775 жыл бұрын
Alec nolastname Depends how badly bent but rather than pliers try using an adjustable (crescent) wrench to straighten then.
@parktool5 жыл бұрын
Double check those bent teeth. There are "hyperglide" and similar designs that use teeth that first appear "bent", but are timed to pick up the chain. If there are several even spaced out, it may be by design.
@alecnolastname43625 жыл бұрын
@@parktool I really don't think its by design, every rotation is met with clicking clattering and if its spinning fast enough it will Jump down a gear. I'm taking it back to the shop I bought it from tomorrow to give them a mouthful, I've already spent more time getting the brakes to work (let alone adjustment) than I have riding it.

@@andygilbert1877 And asjustable wrench is a good idea! I'm short those but I do have vice grips.
@andygilbert18775 жыл бұрын
Alec nolastname Straightening things is the only reason I have adjustable wrenches! I don’t like using them as wrenches. hey, I recently broke a spoke and my whole bike started shaking when I ride it with no hands, do you think its because of the broken spoke or the wheel being a tiny bit bent
@parktool4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is both of those issues. Its kinda chicken and the egg type thing but in this case the spoke breaking came first then the bend in the wheel was introduced leading to shaking while riding without your hands. Repair the spoke and bring the wheel back to true and your woes will be resolved.
