I Built a Beautiful River Base in Valheim | Valheim Builds

Hey everybody and welcome to this build video where we build a fully functional river base in the black forest.
In this series I'll be coming up with builds to show off to you all and coming up with tips and tricks to help you all improve your own builds. Feel free to let me know down in the comments what builds I should do next or just how to do something in Valheim.

This is how I picture a build every time I start, only to end up with a functional rectangle lmao

With that rectangle add some boxes and then work on rounded bits and then work on the roof. It takes time to get good at building in any game, you just have to stay at it.

Yeah, he put monsters on passive. Decent idea for builds like this. I always build with regular monsters and have to stop when a troll or other monster is like, "me no like your house. SmaSh!"

Honestly hard to overstate how much anxiety seeing that troll sitting across the river gave me the entire time you were building this.

At ~40 min when hovering with back to troll, I swore we were gonna see a club swing in at Any second. Doh.

As someone that never goes into (creative mode / no cost mode) it felt weird watching all of this get built and imagining the time it would take to farm all of that. I've always refused to enter those modes because I know I'll never play the game as it's intended again if I do. I've already been ruined by the seed viewer. Right now I'm play a Hardcore with no map. The amount of times I've hit 'm' on my keyboard to be disappointed is uncountable but it's extremely immersive. I actually have to use signs and roads to collect metals and get around without getting lost. I'm afraid to get on a boat.. haha. Luckily I somehow landed a seed that goes nearly to the Great North. I did look up my map on the seed viewer just to make sure I wasn't going to be hunting for the Trader or Moder or something for 10 years. Even with the seed viewer if you just run into the forest and run a few circles you're now lost. Now you need to use the Sun/Moon to tell East from West and North from South. This is the first ever build I actually put a sundial in and use it lol.

Weather and sailing was most difficult. Weather occurs abruptly, and it’s easy to drift off course. Would be attempting to return to a trader and get blown off course… frequently. sadly I’m a casual and the time sink was too much. GL

I was doing a massive build and was farming all the mats but with seed hopping... then I realized even doing that I would not have time to finish what I was working on... I think I mined like 6000 stone and had just barely put in the stone foundation when I decided to start giving myself stone. A rule I like for myself though is I don't give myself a material I haven't demonstrated to myself I could farm given enough time and only for building stuff. It's a good game for setting your own guidelines. Yours sounds intense. I have a hard-core character I fiddle on as well but the building stuff is what calls to me most.

Fantastic summary of your experience. I agree that the multi-player has issues i performance and balancing. That said, my only experience with multi-player is with just my family, and we run a dedicated machine to host our servers. Valheim has addressed the iron shortage a bit with the mistlands, where you can get additional iron after the swamps are exhausted. Plus, the Oozers in the swamp have a chance to drop iron. The portal progression that you mentioned is a mod. Default settings never let any ore or ingots through. I like that mod over allowing all through portals. Valheim has implemented world modifiers to address many of the cons you stated, but not all. I have found, that with the right mod list, you can address 99% of the issues that people might have. That said, a beginner will still have a rough go at jumping on a multi-player server or may find the game tedious and or punishing playing a blind solo. Thank you for making this video.

This game could use NPCs like in Terraria, like u rescue diferent NPCs each with a unique guimick like, making portions, tailor, soldier, etc etc...i think it would be great. This game is fenomenal when it cames to freedom of building, and u Sir uses it perfectly, thank u for sharing

It's too good. No matter how much I played, I never found such islands on the river. I would be glad if you shared the seed.

I've found a few here and there. Though for me - the mob attacks become annoying. Though I did once find a slightly larger mid river island and I used the pickaxe to steepen the sides to discourage the mobs, but the it had a lot of steep slopes for it was quite high - had a habit of slipping down. LOL. But it as interesting to build upon and fit everything. To be fair - it didn't look as nice as Glitchy's build. LOL.
