Add ons: 3. Getting lost is easy in the beginning, but after you drive your first island several times, you memorize it. Getting lost led to some of my best discoveries, like where my second FULL island was, I found a haybale maze, a second mechanic's station (on my first island), and it's also how I found my first prisoner for getting my spud gun! 4. Everything but decorative blocks AND chemicals. Chemicals are only used in the fridge and glowstick recipes. I had a stack of 140 cuz they weren't getting used, now I just smash the jars that are given to me from loot crates. I get plenty of glowsticks from chests and loot crates, and once you develop lighting for your base, even glowsticks don't have many uses.

DF, there's SO much stuff to this game and it took me hours to learn how to play survival and I had been playing the game since before the survival mode was released. My recommendation is to immediately go from your ship to the Mechanic Station which is right down the road from you if you follow the path from your crashed ship. Just go through the big burnt area, cut down all the burnt trees you can, and make your way to the road and follow it. It shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes before you find a giant building with a wrench on top. There's a battery in the area you need to get to power the shop and once you have power, you'll be set to start learning more and crafting better vehicles :)

Another tip I have is to stand on the lift and use it to get you to higher places, it allows you to go straight up the sides of buildings without having to build with blocks.

Yeah this isn't Minecraft. You can't make an airtight underwater base as of now, thrusters are how you fly and thrusters guzzle tons of fuel so a flying sky base isn't really an option

Hey DF! I've been playing this game for a bit and I thought I'd share some of my own tips and tricks that have helped me throughout my adventures. Firstly, food is quite important, you can find it out in ruins, or you can grow it yourself. If you choose to do the latter, you'll get a "Unauthorized Farming Detected" prompt, which will then turn into a timer. At the end of this timer your garden will be attacked by farm bots. You'll have to fend them off if you want your crops to survive. Speaking of fending off farm bots, if you walk backwards while swinging, you are less likely to be hit while still hitting them. This trick takes a bit of work to get the right tempo, but it works really nicely against the big orange farm bots that do 30 damage per hit. When it comes to working on your base, I would recommend taking things apart. It sounds a little crazy, but sooooooo many things in this game can be taken or disassembled. That shed by your garden? Disassembled! Random wheelbarrow? Disassembled! I used those resources to make a bed for a truck I'm building, and to fortify my garden to make it harder for bots to attack. Also don't underestimate the use of third person mode. I personally use it so I can have a 360 degree view of my character at all times, that way I'm less likely to get surprise attacked by some random bot. You can actually zoom third person mode in and out to get the ideal distance between your character, and the camera. Finally, vehicles are important. I've been working on making my first rudimentary car, and have had less than ideal results. However, what I have found is that you can load up resources you find (Scrap, wood, etc.) into your car to transport it back to your ship so you can refine it later. Similarly, I have also found that if you have resources in your vehicle, and said vehicle flips over, you have to unload the all of the resources before you can put the vehicle onto a lift to upright it. Also, I haven't gotten around to testing this, but in theory, if you put your microwave, or fridge on your vehicle, you'd be able to have portable storage. But like I say, I haven't tested this so it may not even work! Anyway, I hope helped, and if anyone has any other suggestions, please reply, because I love to learn new tricks as well!

Some suggestions: For your car, making the seat and engine as low as the wheels would help you not tip over all the time. Also follow roads to find how to make an upgraded crafting machine with lots of fun stuff. So glad you're playing this DF! I'm excited to see what you'll make.

The beginning wheels, engine and seat are so bad it is faster to run as the wheels are uneven so launch you slightly of the ground, the engine make you move like a snail and the seat makes you turning unbelievably slow. The only benefit is the you can carry more stuff. I highly recommend you do make a vehicle so that you can upgraded as you go through the game but just keep in mind that the things you used in the video are very extremely bad =).

A tip for when you are a little further along: I learned last night that suspension shocks are VITAL. It seems like it allows all the wheels to touch the ground at once so you get better traction for speed and turning. A rigid framed car like yours (and mine prior to last night) is passible, but sucks on uneven ground.

You can feed the wocs (scrapmechanic cows) by placing corn near them. Corn that you can get from bigger corn that you can smash with your hammer.

Couple of tips: 1. Forget having a car until you have some bona fide wheels. The scrap wheels belong to the wheelbarrows you can find them on. Contact patch is so uneven that's hard to make even a viable car build. The scrap engine and seat will suit you fine until you start getting into heavy machinery, but for an exploration rig, they will work just fine as a starter. I would upgrade to the gas engine before I would put effort into upgrading the seat. As somebody else here said, you'd be faster running then you would be with scrap wheels. 2. You can place your lift just about anywhere and you can use it for a personal elevator. 3. Bots will only attack your farm if illegal farming is detected. You will get a notification as well as a red timer over your farm plots. The bots will ALWAYS attack at midnight (0:00). 4. Based on my experiences, it seems that unless you're going for all wheel drive, you should have your drive wheels set to the front. Most builds I see are rear heavy and RWD will only cause wheelies (as you have already experienced), and if you don't have ENOUGH weight in the rear, a RWD vehicle will only perform mad skids and hardly get you down the road. Those drifts are fun the first few times but becomes increasingly aggravating the more you want to explore. So, my opinion and suggestion, is Front Wheel or All Wheel Drive or walk. 5. Fuel economy is factored by both weight and the grade of engine used. For maximum fuel economy, AWD (counterintuitively) gets best results, based on several peoples tests, as well as finding a balance between a vehicle that is too light and one that is too heavy. Too light and your vehicle will never make good contact with the ground, so you're burning excess fuel with either burnouts or hopping around midair with every bump in the road (or both). Too much weight and you will lug your engine down, obviously consuming more fuel.

The lift (#2) on your bar can be used to raise and lower yourself (or vehicle) to higher places. Also, you can pick up materials with left-click once placed down. Love your videos btw!

the building platform is your best friend you can place it, stand on it and then press up to elevate, no need to build jumping spots Also any block you place (and many smaller structures) can be removed by right clicking, in the early game you can get all the wood you need just from dismantling small shacks

This game does have some bugs, especially when driving vehicles. Most of the time, if your character or vehicle is stuck going in one direction, tap that directional button again and it'll reset.

-Follow the road until you get to the building with the giant neon wrench on top, that's where the game really starts. -You can stand on the lift and raise it up to help reach higher levels. -The robots only attack your crops if you plant more than 9 of the starter crops, carrots/tomatoes/beets. (They will attack with less plots of potatoes/blueberries/bananas/and oranges) They always -attack at midnight if you plant too much. Potatoes are only used in a cookbot, or as ammo in a spudgun, you can't eat them raw, so don't waste your time planting them until later. -You can't eat the corn, you have to place it on the ground in front of the cows, every 3 that they eat gives you a milk. -Beeswax is used for making the better wheels.
