Cardboard (as Adam Savage says) is the gateway drug to making - and as a boy in the 1960's it was for me. To see your skills and techniques applied to this material shows just how they develope along the way - Measuring, cutting, glueing, preparing basic shapes etc. This video should be in every Maker 101 course, amazing and amusing in equal parts. That's not even cardboard. It's corrugated paper. Cardboard/cardstock are different.

I haven’t built much with cardboard in years, I should do some more. Back in grade school I used to use cardboard and card stock to make marble tracks. My fifth grade teacher caught me making one during free time one day, and ended up asking for more information on the different cutting and folding techniques I used. The next week she ended up making a physics/geometric constructions lesson based on it, and asked me to assist. It was a ton of fun.

man i would've loved this when i was in high school, not only for the cardboard but also wood. absolutely loved art class for making stuff out of cardboard, masking tape, and hot glue, and loved woodshop for making stuff out of plywood, paneling, old whiteboard, whatever i could get really. been a long-ass time since i've made anything like that though, might just have to give this a shot for old time's sake

If you use a thinner cardboard, such as cereal boxes, you can cover the layers without exposing new ones from the covering resulting in a much cleaner look. Regardless of that, this is so freakin' cool! Mad power to you for aiming to inspire!

or even card stock. I used to keep a stack of junk-mail postcards (offering to pay cash for my house or inviting me to a newly opened dentist office) until my wife got into scrapbooking and I had all her multi-colored and textured card stock to recycle.

That's a great way of building a quick concept idea , before making the actual model itself , you can figure out the geometry and design and play around with it more 👍

Love your videos! I’m curious what some famous mecha designs would look like I’m your style. Have you ever considered making a scratch built Gundam or Robotech Valkyrie? I think dipping your toes into some fandoms could boost your engagement. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic video. There are a TON of construction methods in the paper crafting and cardboard scene that could easily be applied to anyone's mechs for very clean and detailed results. Combine this with some bottle caps and other household junk and this could easily be a "free" way to make robots!

Im kind of catching up on my YT videos and this one really gives me that "computer training dummy" vibe with its blocky shapes and grid pattern, like something you'd have in a virtual simulator for training troops in mech warfare.

Cardboard. Cardboard? Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think of using it to build models. We'd build forts out of huge boxes, but never stuff like that. You have been truly blessed with your imagination. Thanks for the video. Now let me rethink all these cardboard boxes I have.
