The worst is I personally feel the idea for a more autonomous war system is a good thing for victoria, as it makes sense, the government is not going to micro manage a war, as thats not their job. The main issue in it, is that the system that is there now, needs you to micro manage it, but in a way where you have no control too, so they just gave us the worst of both worlds

back in 1.5 when I had best military in the world with those heavy tanks I was fighting the 'Cut down size' for 5 times against the whole world and the only thong why I lost at the last one was bcs I had to many fronts. What I learned from it. It's not about the technology of ur military more about the amount of troops u can control. I never been doing patriac infamy ever since bcs I didn't feel like playing agaisnt the whole world. The last time I played was 1.6 where I did all the France achievements. My PC broke right when 1.7 dropped and now I am gonna repair it this week. At least wanna play 1.7 before 1.8 drops xD

The war fronts really are annoying in that game. It's almost like it is fixed so that the usual AI super powers get an advantage all the time. All that defense and power, yet the weaker nations magically win due to some unseen mandatory requirement.
