Hey everyone! Back in my own Scrap Mechanic Survival world again and this time I decided to experiment with making a catapult that can launch my character up to the top of warehouses and make it that much easier for me to loot them without having to go through the warehouse! Visualize the catapult at the moment it hits the stop, and you can see your launch angle. You are launching mostly horizontal. If you move the platform even higher, start at -180 degrees, and put the stop at about -75 degrees you will be launching upwards instead of sideways. (You'll probably need more of a back wall on the box holding the seat.) This might let you get to the top of level 3 warehouse roofs.

so rather than pack all the roof loot into chests why not just weld it together and drop the whole shebang off the roof in one piece then disassemble it later? You can use a lift to move it away from the warehouse and come back at your leisure.

If you go underneath the warehouse and use your lift to lower yourself through the ground, when you teleport back up to the surface you will be on top of the warehouse

Mount that cardboard block to a pipe piece. The pipe does not have attachment points on the sides, so the seat won't try to 'stick' to it, making it easier and quicker to reset.

Spin yourself on a horizontal plane with a thruster as counterweight, have a nutton to disconnect but ran through an and gate with sensor on the other side to ensure you can only disconnect at a certain position. Once you dial in the launch you should be able to pitch up with pistons and launch to all heights.

Cut the tower/other structures off at the base then drop it off the warehouse with your lift. take it apart on the ground where your chest are.

In order to reset the seat easer, instead of that wood block by the cardboard block, use a wedge. Also for perfect launch you need to trigger the spudgun when youre at 45 degrees, i just dont remember whether the momentum gets carried through or not...

No, the game doesn't decide what the bots drop based on what you have. The haybots have a chance to drop the circuit board, and an even lower chance to drop a component kit. Every time you kill a haybot, the game rolls an RNG and depending on the number rolled, you either get nothing, which is the usual and most common, a bit rare-er drop is the circuit board, and the rarest thing they drop is a component kit.

Hey Kosmo Another tip for you. The passenger seat is way better than a toilet seat. When you exit a toilet seat the exit is a bit wonky, not so with a passenger seat, plus the extra size of the passenger seat allows for better transfer between seats if using them to scale up or down heights. This tip comes from doing a lot of building. More than what you’ve done and Scrapman combined.

Haybots always give a spine (this is hard coded somewhere). Default additional lua configurable loot from a haybot: 50% chance of nothing, 25% chance of a circuit board, and 25% chance of a component kit.

You don't need chests to get the stuff off the roof, you chop the legs off the radio tower and drop it off the side with the lift, everything else you can weld/build into a big lump to drop it down. then just attach everything to your vehicle, its unwieldy but saves needing chests.

Now that you have the catapult, how about building a scissor-lift instead? You can even have it have 4 levels of lifting, so it can be used for both warehouses, and for quickly getting the higher-tier chests on top of the loot ruins. And adding a 5th level for a lot higher elevation could help with mapping the area without a thruster. That's how I did it in my world. And, for a 5-levels scissor-lift, you only need 4 level-1 controllers and 1 max level controller (for the mapping part). And please make a single-thruster suspension-glitch-steering pitch-and-yaw manned rocket, for fast travel, without any other blocks weighing it down.

I think what would be a next gen of this idea would be to build a rocket sled that you launch , imagine a katyusha but a a single slide that you put the sled on and ride to your target, plus you can put chest on the sled, also all the controls cna be on the sled with the controls on the truck for fine tuning the ramp.

you should try separating the thruster pod with the seat mechanism. if you put the seat a length behind the thruster pod you might get more distance on launch! like (bearing)--------------------------Thrust---------Seat

Haybots drop CK almost all the time, but after a certain number dropped, the game need like 2 in game days till they drop em that often again. So basicly its capped in like 2 in-game days. Chests can always hold em I think, but also rarity goes up, if you hit the cap in 2 days. Btw, you could have looted 3-4 warehouses in the time you made and tested this ^^ , and looted alot of CK as well.

Hey Kosmo Here’s a tip for you. Build a 50 plot farm next to your base, plant all pineapples. Water them, then build a thick tier 2 or 3 metal wall around the farm - like 5 thick. Never harvest the crop. Like never ever.. Bots will spawn in continually providing you with a constant source of kits, boards and metal. At least this what happened in my world.

Or use a desert mountain with just enough blocks to ensure the bots can't get up. The first two desert mountains I tried didn't need any blocks at all. You could even set up a sprinkler with a underground water line, provided that the water source is within 160 meters. That would provide at least 200 plots, maybe a maximun of 500 plots.

I have the same idea to loot the top of warehouse but never cross my mind to build a catapult like yours 🤣. Never thought it would be so fun to see catapult yeeting. I choose to built a flyer with four chest, four gas tank, and four level 5 thrusters. Consume a lot of fuel but easier to build and plenty of storage. The grinding for materials is hell, I wish the traders would sell circuit board and component kit.

Kosmo - I don't want a long video... Also kosmo - makes hour long video Love that you can see the ragdolling in the timelapse. You can toss your toilet off the top of the warehouse and then sit in it so you don't take fall damage. Also suggest putting logic gate in when you want to control a bunch of items from a single source. Then you could have the gate on the catapult, they would stay connected even if you disconnected the "cup" and only have 1 point to reconnect. (and it's closer!)

I could be wrong, but it seems like your thrusters don't have the time to get up to speed. If you create a device where the launcher arm can spin indefinitely, and instead use a moveable stopper, you could probably do this with a lot less thrusters. The timing for the stopper could be its own headache, but at least you should be able to make a more compact version that is easier to move around. That said I LOVE your classic over engineered contraptions. They, in addition to your awesome/wacky personality, is the main reason why I subscribe. 😃👍😃👍

Day one:my idea is that try making a ramp car and can make the military truck which is the what is it? Rocket launcher truck? But note that the chest is randomize for hauling heavy load and the ramp car is just for the ramming

Halfway through I realized that you could've just build a rudimentary flyer to achieve the same result, but I appreciate the effort I wonder if catapult could be powered by an electric engine and how effective would that be, especially if you stack bearings

My two suggestions: put the catapult on a separate vehicle instead of using a stop, connect the main button to a logic gate, which connects to the thruster timer and a new timer that triggers the spudgun to fire after a set delay. Now you would be able to adjust the height/distance ratio I do not know how well it would work but I would love to see it happen, keep up the great work. You deserve more everything apart from dislikes!
