could the iron golems be spawning somewhere underground perhaps? the very slow rates of skeletons/zombies eventually killing them in caves so they only spawn on the top half of all attempts, and the other half of attempts take about 10 mins to kill the golems?

They have changed a ton of villager mechanics in recent years. For example, villagers cannot link to job blocks while sleeping in a bed, but can unlink from a broken block. It's so useful you wouldn't believe it. More relevantly, you don't need to spacially seperate villages, and can just plonk down more beds in the same area to create another village. I recently built a 4-chunk iron farm with bed access that spawned 16 golems when I removed the lava blade. The spawning didn't feel 8 times faster, though, so there may be a local spawning limit or something. As I said, the rules have changed a lot, and I don't know half of it. It would really be awesome if someone did a deep dive into current villager mechanics like DB and others did back in the day.

Have you made sure that each villager is located right next to the workstation to which they are assigned? If the villager cannot "work" every day, it does not count

My first thought about this is that the way the first and second villages were originally constructed might have inadvertently caused them to link together. In my world, I don't have a quad iron farm, but I have two farms stacked on top of each other with my afk spot in the middle. While the tutorial I followed filled the lower farm first, I filled the upper farm before filling the lower one. I had good success by using one villager breeder that was far away from every farm, then moving the villagers to the furthest farm first, working to then the nearest last. Like you did, I only move two villagers and then breed more when they are at the farm. However, with my design, the beds are on the inside right under the spawn platform on the bottom, and on the top, the villagers are on a platform of leaves above the beds and spawn platform. Both villages are completely blocked from seeing any other villages beds, and I suspect this is important for the farms where there is a villager set apart to see the beds. Hope these ideas help. ~Cam P.S. Also, farmer villagers, while cheap, don't work if it is raining or if it rained recently. Farmers, fishermen, and librarians (if I remember correctly) don't work when it rains, which cuts into rates. If you aren't planning on doing any villager trading, then make them fletchers or any of the villagers who trade iron and that should help with your rates too.

The block corner causes the problem. Happened to me recently. Be careful tho, villagers can kill each other by suffocation because their pathfinding is horrible.

@@sevendust141 I had a zombie in mine but still after removing any nearby block and literally having a section of 4 rails in a straight line the minecart would stop shy of the last track. there was absolutely nothing in the way. Logging out and back in and it was just fine.

Hopefully the minecart bug in this newest update gets fixed soon. it’s like certain places it just gets hard blocked, I’ve had to go around certain spots on my minecart collection systems for multiple farms in the past week or two due to this bug.

Second explanation at 23:35: "First of all, this iron farm is just straight up one chunk too farm away, because we moved the entire center of the base over by a chunk and I just didn't happen to correct the chunk markers that were out here, so this was 5 chunks away instead of 4, meaning it's *completely* unloaded when we're standing in the center chunk there. So the whole thing has gotta be moved right over to here. Now problem number two is I thought we had to be within 80 blocks horizontally of the village center for golems to spawn, aand that's actually 64 blocks, which if you know anything about numbers you'll realise there's a difference between those two, so that means that *not a single one* of these iron farms is spawning golems when we stand at the center chunk right here, which is also not a big deal, since we can simply rearrange these -" Edit: Oh wait he said all of that afterwards anyway...

In my most recent world, 1600 days in now, every single time ive built an iron farm, the breeder has caused the farm problems. 1st time with the 1st iron farm, 100 blocks between. Didnt work. 2nd time at 110 blocks between, nope. 3rd time 180 blocks away, sort of worked until it became night. Then never again. Decided id just go up. So, 250ish blocks away from the breeder and now it spawns fast. Next world, im just doing over 500 blocks away. Minecarts ftw.

I just built an iron farm last week and it was well over 100 blocks away from the main village however I had some weird issues too, first they wouldn't link to ANY workstations at all for like a day, all browncoats. They were breeding though. I tried everything, logging in logging out, moving workstations, destroying beds killing villagers nothing worked then like a day later it magicallu fixed itself. So now they all had jobs however none would go to their werkstations to check them so I had no idea who was linked to which one, breaking workstations also didn't unlink them either. Then that magically fixed itself like 2 hrs later so idk, no clue how those mechanics work. Oh and Iron golems would spawn but like 3 in a row, then nothing. That seemed to have something to do with pathfinding to the beds??? Because when I removed some stairs around the rows of beds it would keep spawning for some reason. I'm just happy it works now lol.

We had to make sure each villager was able to sleep in their own bed, tame 5 cats in each chuck so they stop spawning (apparently cats spawning slow down the iron golem spawn rate) then got it to work. We have a 100 villager setup over 64blocks and have to be in the middle too on a realm sever. Hope this helps 👌🏼

Yah this is nonsense. I’d never waste the string of cats. You should consider though that they can spawn where golems can’t spawn if not fully spawn proofed and tend to wander off which could cause problems with mobspawning.

The hidden duplicate minecart is really annoying. Restarting the server will clear the hidden carts. Just real frustrating as it keeps breaking my farms that rely on moving hopper carts.

Maybe your second layer of beds is out of reach in height. I had this problem when the beds were more than 6 blocks above the pillagers.

​@silentwisperer , I've noticed before that if the village leader has a weird bed (if it faces weirdly or doesn't allow the y axis to spaw golems) then it seems to stop altogether or mitigate the spawns almost entirely, I fixed it by getting everyone off the server then having someone else load in

Try on one bad farm rate. Put beds two blocks under the villager. Put two work tables and two more beds than your villager count.

i had this problem as well, i seemed to be that the villager bed was on a chunk boarder and i guess they got out of bed inside a wall and suffocated, so i moved the beds to be completely inside one of the chunks

​@@Sawyer-MCit's because the cap for iron golems are 1 golem per 10 villager keeping the golems alive while trying to move them to a centralised killing area will keep the cap filled for the entire time the golems are being transported so it'll take longer for the golem cap to open back up and for more to spawn therefore reducing your rates

Cats don't really interfere. Really. It's not linked. The only possible interference is entities not spawning in the same location as another entity, but you need to remember that A) that's a large area B) only 5 cats C) each golem spawn is attempted multiple times and it's almost impossible for the location to be chosen on top of a cat every single time

Think it's so that the one uptop becomes a bridge between the beds and the rest of the villagers below. Allowing them to know they are there..

It's so the villagers stay linked to the beds because there's a villager that has it in its field of view if you don't have that guy the villagers randomly unlink and re link to beds Which can lead to lower rates or on rare occasions just completely break the farm
