I have 24 hours... to build a Startup.. with NO CODE in Bubble 😲
Thank you Qualcomm for sponsoring this video! Learn more here 👉 bit.ly/3TJUG2L
I learned Blender in 24 hours video - • I Learned Blender in 2...
After a month of creative tutor the experiment was shut down. Here is the email I sent out to everyone that signed up :) thanks for being a part of it! You learn A LOT when you DO.👇
Sara here! I just wanted to say THANKYOU for being a part of this experiment. It was going to be just for the video I made about the NoCode movement but then it turned into something really cool. Before I get into my learnings I don't want to bury the lead - This Wednesday 12/28 CreativeTutor.co will shut down. I STRONGLY recommend giving my tutor friends a follow on Twitter for inspo and knowledge 🙏👇

✨if you're curious, here are some observations from the experiment✨
MOST of the 170+ that signed up wanted to be a tutor. Marketplaces can be tough since you need to find harmony between both buyers and sellers as well as pricing. I wanted to keep the tutors heavily curated but it turns out most people don't need the absolute best of the best for tutors since that comes at a higher cost. When it comes to learning technical skills many "students" rather buy a course that they can move through at their own pace or book a tutor at a $20-$50/hr rate.
However, since I promoted this to my audience I had a lot of great tutor sessions with you all! Biggest shocker for me - many didn't actually care about the technicalities of video editing. Even though I feel like I can offer A LOT in that department, people were more curious about my thoughts on their NoCode startup, the biggest pain points for working creators, reviewing their KZbin channel and general branding advice. They also said they would have paid much more for the 1 on 1. My initial assumptions were honestly WAY OFF.
The whole "consulting" world might be on to something huh.. I guess don't knock it til you try it right? I thought I gave some decent advice and I had fun! I probably learned as much myself as the "students".
I am still a BIG BELIEVER in seeking out experts when you are first learning a skill. Starting a new project by just googling things can sometimes hit a wall. So the key is to make sure you have specific questions for the expert to answer. What you might learn in months can be condensed into an hour. I will still be DMing random creatives asking how much I can pay them for an hour of their time on Zoom (lol).
No matter HOW you learn I'm just glad yal are out there learning and putting creative work OUT!
- Sara

To people that want to start their career in tech, software engineering is more than learning a programming language. We have many aspects that are not programming 1. Data Structures and Algorithms 2. UI/UX Design 3. Design Patterns 4. Programming Paradeims 5. Design Principles 7. System Design Architecture 8. Programming language So, you can see how even knowing a particular language doesn't make you a software engineer talkless of learning a no-code tool. No-code is just a way to start learning one of these 8 or even more software engineering concepts

low-code/no code has been the worse experience I ever had in software. I was obligated to use it for healthcare for 5y and putting apps into production and it's not reliable at all. you end up taking way more time to do something that could take you a week with normal code (plus the wrist pain you will get from all the drag and drops and clicks, etc). It does not scale, breaks easily between new updates, you will always be dependent on the vendor, you need to learn how their invented implementation logic works, and the tool developers don't even know what the tool can do at some point because the complexity will increase exponentially and stuff breaks in between. nothing will assure you these tools will still exist in 2-3y due to the complexity of use and maintenance and you will very likely lose your work. I call it more of a management dream (those who don't even touch it) and a developer nightmare. These things have a huge tech debt in the background. if you use it for simple things, like a personal page, tools such as Wix without much logic are fine or use WordPress, otherwise, you're just putting yourself in a hole of problems without necessity. Instead of investing time in learning these low code stuff, take the time to learn proper logic and programming, will be way more useful and better for you.

No-code solutions should be avoided if your company gets any traction and you start gaining a considerable customer base. You wind up just creating a lot of technical debt and you rely way too heavily on tools that aren’t designed to scale well. Feel free to design a MVP in one to show the engineer what you want functionally and to get feedback, but you set yourself up for a ton of failure when they stop supporting their no code app, change pricing structure, or you can’t scale to your needs. Source: SE that has had to rewrite A LOT of no/low code solutions for customers into something real because they just don’t scale or work forever.

Wow. Your sponsors are top notch big companies Sara. Congrats. In all reality, a startup cannot function without proper IT -to create new features, make custom adjustments and pivot fast if needed. However, for testing, iterations and small size MVP for the initial hundreds or even thousands of customers, no code solutions could work.

Its good to keep in mind that with hosted no-code tools (like bubble) you are vendor locking yourself. And you are doing it hard! There are some self hosted options available, but they are all quite lacking for now. Wordpress (that btw. is from 2003 so no-code nothing new really) is still my #1 choice for all browser only stuff. Also a comment about programming languages. If you have to "learn" a language, you are not yet a programming master mind. Languages should be just tools like hammer and chisel.

Interesting idea with these NoCode technologies. However I think when comparing it to learning coding it is pretty much still the same though. It is more abstract but generally the same approach. You have to learn the interface of this technology (just like you need to learn a programming language) and then you also have to solve problems that you encounter when something doesn't work (also commonly known as debugging for programmers). I am all for this if people get to experiment with new stuff however you can't do everything with this. You are bound to this service. You also can't abstract your work and just reuse it quickly in a different service. Programming languages are more forgiving this way. You can call one programming language from another. You can also easily extend the default possibilties for the language of your choice. Anyhow, have fun with the stuff you want to work with. That was just my thought process about this topic.

Thank you for doing this. As a code monkey and manager of code monkeys, I've been curious about the "no code" stuff. My impression, given your experience, is that there's still a whole lot to learn, and the net benefit might be lost if you already know a particular set of tools. You're obviously very intelligent, and if you can't quickly grok a platform, it doesn't bode well for less qualified people. And of course, this doesn't even get into issues of scale, which admittedly, come way down the line and would be a good problem to have. By the way, I think the idea of a consultant marketplace for creatives is a solid idea beyond experimentation. Well done.

No/low-Code is good if you dont know any programming languages (and HTML,...) and there is a need to a plattform that supports the stuff you want. When you need to create own stuff inside of these service, you are probably better learning a bit of HTML, CSS and a JS Framework. It will be less painful (my Experience) And when a new Feature needs to be implemented (that isnt directly supported by the service... have fun rebuilding everything or increasing the complexity alot

Form my experience with Low-Code: Dont do it. In detail: If you want to do anything more special then the plattform was directly made from. You are doomed and you need to dig even deeper in the topic instead of just code it by yourself. There will be restrictions from the plattform that are just weird. Its very frustrating! This can happen easily if a new feature is wanted that wasnt planned in the beginning. So you need to trick out the plattform or rebuild the whole service.
