I'm a Carpenter myself. I've been doing my job for 20 years. I've done a fair amount of lodgepole work. I spent 15 years of my career building in Wyoming where lodgepole is common. You're welcome to check my credentials through my fb. (barkerbuilders) Not bragging, only giving some background for my comments. To say that I am thoroughly impressed is an understatement. I pride myself on my high quality work. It's what I've built my reputation on. This is above and beyond that. The cuts perfectly line up. The counter sinking of every screw. The screw patterns. All of the draw knife work. I know what it takes to find just the right branches. It's painstaking but worth it. This is one of three or so comments I've left on KZbin over the years. I felt I needed to though. Your craftsmanship is Top tier sir. Well done. Very impressive. Thanks for sharing it.

Fricking amazing! I so book marked this video - I have identical twin 1 year old daughters and the wife is pregnant with our son. Way to stick with a project. I did a 14 foot wide built in / entertainment center and it took me 4+ months to finish and this was before we had kids. You did great getting this done in 8 months.

This is great and inspired to try and so something similar, although it will be way off the quality of this. I just wondered where did you get the branches and wood from for the uprights and ladders?
@EveningWoodworker4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The decking and 2x6s are from your local big box store but the branches and logs were all cut down when they built on the lot next to me. I just convinced the logger to leave then for me! Good luck!

@leohernandez25842 жыл бұрын
Hi Did you have to dry the logs before building or did you do it with pretty fresh cut wood?
@EveningWoodworker2 жыл бұрын
I dried them for about 6 months, so they were mostly dry, but there was still some splitting that happened later as they dried more. Nothing all the way through though!
@greggodar19174 жыл бұрын
What did you you use for the black pieces you used to set the logs on? Source for the roof? Source for the Army Green Netting?
@EveningWoodworker4 жыл бұрын
The base of the logs are just 3/4" plywood wrapped in outdoor carpet. They just sit on the carpet. Army netting is here: amzn.to/3o0arTR and the source for the roof is homedepot.sjv.io/b4bVM Good luck!

So the main tree supports are not connected to the ceiling and just have a flat base that rests on the carpet?
@EveningWoodworker4 жыл бұрын
Yes the only attach points for the structure are at the height of the second level where the 2x6s are lag bolted to the wall. I know it doesn't sound like much, but this is surprisingly strong and the weight is transferred directly below to the floor.

This is amazing, but as an engineer the code does not permit handrails or safety ropes to have climable components as toddlers and kids will use them as foot holds that will make tumbling over the side an issue ... especially with one as young as yours. Trying not to be a buzzkill because what you built looks incredible, just that it would fail code for safety reasons. See this companies extract of building codes, you can access your local building codes from public libraries: wagnercompanies.com/o-canada/
