You mentioned you were testing out regular bricks. I don't know anything about this stuff, but i did watch videos in the past year about building an outdoor oven and fire pits and heard someone mention fire-mortar that they covered regular bricks with, which i had no idea existed.

Yes there is fire mortar... Some is very dear but bags aren't too bad... I have one somewhere... But minimalist first...

:)an antique Champion hand air blower from Lancaster pa, USA... I have tried paint stripper air guns too, just hand held but could attach it to the pipe... Not with PVC tape of course! Aluminum tape maybe...
