Kan, I built a piston engine with a timer so you can essentially "shift" it, I think the car would run better with that. You can dind it in the workshop (toilet pump piston engine with gearbox)

Just so you know kAN, the average in the dyno is a moving average. It only uses the values from the previous 5 seconds of it recording, so by pressing the reset button, you are completely wiping the table of values. If you let the engine run at the new rpm, it will update to be accurate in 5 seconds, but by pressing the white button, it takes 5 seconds plus the time it took to press the button.

brother I'm a 34 year old construction Forman, I came across your channel cause I watch some gaming from time to time. I'm glad I did. its extremely interesting watching you build these engines. you are extremely smart. you build this stuff with ease. I realize you have been doing this for years but its pretty amazing to me. I am glad I found your videos, I'm learning a lot. I'd really like to see piston engine with any kind of trans and diff. I know how hard that probably is, but I will watch even if you fail. I cant tell you how happy I am to have come across your channel these physics fascinate me. p.s. sorry if this is difficult to read. I am terrible at typing, I have carpel tunnel.. the more I type the more it hurts the more I don't care about correct grammar and punctuation.

Instead of stall point to stop the engine, what I usually do is to rotate the sensor themselves so none of them see a the "encoding wheel". This way I make sure its "off" without AND gates that add delays.

You can also just jam something in between the timing wheel and sensors to block the detection.

by having pistons stacked, when the first one push, the second one get longer before retracting because of the speed, which loose you tons of performance (the "opposite" will happen if the piston were in the same direction)

I thought about making an engine like this before, but I didn't get around to testing it yet. Its a cool concept which I think can be pushed further to 600RPM no problem due to the conrods and overuse of pipes. Overall this is a great lead-in for building a Kein-engine, so I better see one in the next video. Actually, I much prefer to see best builds next video, then a Kein-engine afterwards.
@Thagrynor
@Thagrynor Жыл бұрын
So, you built that little piston stack and showed how it jitters a lot. Does that happen when attached on both sides? Like, could you utilize that silly interaction as the movement? Because that seemed to move a lot faster than normal piston movement ....
@quakxy_dukx
@quakxy_dukx Жыл бұрын
What are you saying? To turn it into a boxer engine?
@Thagrynor
@Thagrynor Жыл бұрын
@quakxy_dukx I mean, in whatever sort of engine would work? More just to use the twitchy nature of the piston stack to produce the movement as opposed to sensors and a timing wheel. If a boxer works best for that type of in-line linear motion, then sure?
@rubeanie
@rubeanie Жыл бұрын
@@quakxy_dukxthat’s what I was thinking, maybe making it a boxer, then you’d also have two pistons firing at the same time, increasing the torque (in theory)
@quakxy_dukx
@quakxy_dukx Жыл бұрын
@@rubeanie the problem is that with the con-rod configuration, having multiple pistons on the same plane is impossible as they’ll interfere with each other. So you’d either have to have an offset between the two (or more) lines of pistons or use the more standard piston engine configuration without con-rods (but idk if that’s possible with this double piston setup)
@benjaminfranklin329
@benjaminfranklin329 Жыл бұрын
That jitter is effectively unresisted by the vehicle using the slack between the two pistons, under load the jitter would be slowed down.

instead of putting them against eqhother, you sould have put them on the opposit sides top and bottom of te arm that you made longer to prevent collision with the shaft. So it works like a steam engine piston.

Hay Kan I think if you had two crank shafts you could simplify this design just put a bearing in between the two pipes connecting to the pistons delete the extended pipe pieces towards the middle so one pipe can connect to A crankshaft forming an L pattern with the Pistons and the part connecting the two pistons will spin around the engine. putting the two crankshaft closer to gather, would Decrease leverage and increase speed

I would put the diff gears on the body on pistons, so you could flip a switch and choose CW CCW on a whim. Not sure how close to IRL SM timing would be for engies, but would you want a IRL ignition timing map for a real running engine, maybe to try adaptive timing on these pistons engines?

Hey @kangaming wouldn't U think reducing the vibrations from the chassis would help increasing the torque delivery Like making the engine mount higher and keep it at 0%. Imagine if that piston engine had a twin on the other side to neutralize the forces of momentum out side of it and then the wheel that's spinning from there was treated like flywheels that fed into the main transition point that actually gave power to the vehicle and because of them being two of them you can make sure there on the opposite piston position that's most optional there for just making even more nuts in power
