gorgeous guitar, a few notes from a guitarist tho: 1. those pickups better sound great, as they seem to be important to the guitar's shape, if they don't sound great, it would be very difficult to take them out and replace them with a preferred pickup. 2, replacement parts on this seem like they might be a pain as things break you might have to replace them. 3, the fretboard seems a little high above the body. other then that, fantastic job and id love to buy and shred the hell out of this guitar, it looks like it would play very nicely

@@craftedworkshop I would've used clear epoxy in and around the copper tubes. It'll give that steam punk vibe while making it look like the pipes are floating in the air. I mean, the extra copper color that you had added makes it too orangey. The color throws the aesthetics off. However, I do like the shape of the headstock.

Wow, that is a really sweet looking AND sounding guitar!! I keep coming across guitar building video's and at this rate I think I'm going to have to learn how to play the guitar as I've got so many idea's about what I'd do if I built a guitar....... or 10 guitars!! My first one would be a charity shop guitar (I've seen quite a few nice looking ones in charity shops near where I live) that I would dismantle and re build to get a feel for it and to experiment on...... that might be the last one as well depending on if I could get my head around playing it when it's finished LOL 😅👍

@batsong
@batsong 3 жыл бұрын
That was the original plan, but we had one week to build this and the epoxy solution for the bottom "wing" created a time-crunch problem. I was on vacation while we built this. We may do it again with improvements. As this was a "brainstorm/experimental" piece, lots of new ideas/solutions presented themselves as we journeyed through the process. I'm excited to do a "round 2".

Absolutely stunning guitar. Reminds me a bit of Jansen New Zealand electric guitars made in the 60's and 70's, where they couldn't always get the parts they needed. So modified car parts, copper pipers, hand wound pickups with random magnets and so much more, you name it, it's probably on one of them. They are stunning (just like yours!) and Highly collectible in in my country. Thank you for the nostalgia. So beautiful. And a wee bit steampunk, nothing wrong with that, you are an amazing craftsman and designer. I would ditch ALL of my electrics just for something this beautiful. Lost for words :-) Just checked out your channel, it is amazing, total fan.Sub! Sub! Sub!

If you set the wood up diagonally on the X-Carve, you aren't limited by the 1m x 1m dimensions, you get closer to a 1.4m distance of cut. (minus the width of the router and limited by the wood blank shape).

Looks great, but I think it would look even better if the copper pipes connecting the wings to the body would point at each other. And I would've tried to align the bridge and the tailpiece with the copper pipes (I don't know if you can have these not at a 90° angle to the strings but if yes I would've tried to do it)
