Beautiful work! How much of an advantage would a resin printer such as Form 4 be? I wonder if more of the parts could be printed ready to use and reduce finish work.

Would it work to make the transmission shafts have a hexagonal cross section? Then they would be easier to print. The only place where they need to be circular is where they pass through the bearing plate and the main casting.

You can certainly try it but I think that trying to finish hex shafts would be extremely difficult. Round shafts can be finished in a drill. Also if they were hex then the gears would not pass over the round 'end section' or if the round end section was smaller then the shaft would not pass through the bearing plate. The top end of the shaft also would need to be hex where it fits into the drive gear and having a hex 'bearing' would not work well.
