I think the answer to your question "Where to put the tunnel?" Has an answer if you add a basement to the house it would fit in the basement &/or attic or both of those places would work together but a risky shot of rolling the dice.

I feel like you should make this a manhunt style thing, where all the players are basically a bunch of Wiley Coyotes trying to kill you, the Roadrunner- and you could include things like the fake tunnel, a reverse fake tunnel where you can break through it as if it were blocks but players run inside, pitfall traps, cartoon weapons like an oversized mallet that you can deal more damage with or a squeaky hammer that players will discover is worthless, and just a whole bunch of wacky cartoon hijinx!

One summer while i was in church camp racoons would come out at night so us guys in boys cabin 2 decided we would trap one the only way we knew how... The box and stick method! It surprisingly worked too but hen we decided to let it go it ran off and while everyone was asleep it raided a lot of the trash cans in 5he camp and dug out a lot of trash. We were probably the first and only cabin to have ever done that
