You are an amazing person. Too many of our American kids these days are entitled and treat their parents and their grandparents terribly. That’s impressive. I love that you did that for them.

Great job bud... I love it and I know they do as well.. If you don't mind one suggestion I would have raised the beds up by 2 feet higher and wider another foot to allow for easy access and if needed they can maneuver a walker and cane with seat. otherwise this is very thoughtful.
@TheYoungNonnoКүн бұрын
Appreciate the suggestion. There is an option for the metal beds to be a foot higher. But you have to imagine then a 6 ft tomato plant and how that becomes tough to reach. They don’t live alone so there is some help when needed. These beds are 3.5ft wide which allows easy access from both side towards the middle. Any wider and that would become a bit more of an issue for them. 😊

Your garden for them is wonderful. My family lived on a farm in the 60’s our gardens totaled about an acre. We canned and froze enough food for our family of 6 to last a year.

I try to grow stuff in big pots but my bantams are expert breakers of all fences somehow. Even domes of chicken wire completely surrounding green things get somehow defeated at harvest time. Great eggs though 😂😂

My dad used to manage a Merino wool sheep farm and would always have a garden in one of the paddocks. One year he grew more than 4000 pumkins because he planted "a few extra just in case". As a family/ community we would all go out to the farm to help with harvesting fruit and vegetables. We grew watermelon, rockmelon, jam melons, tomatoes, herbs, pumpkins, potatoes, peas, beans, cucumbers, button squash, zucchini, carrots, celery... Dad was always adding different varieties. Dad shared the harvest with all our family and friends, donated some to a couple of families that were struggling, etc. Whatever was left we would sell at farmers markets, wr spent our Saturdays at different markets in our area. There were so many pumpkins that we were still eating farm pumkins when dad planted the next years garden... He still grows tomatoes and parsley and a few other things but the farm was sold about 5 years ago. We miss the farm but it really needed a group of younger farmer's to run it. Food always tastes better when its grown locally, dad says its the love and care put into looking after the garden that changes the taste. My favourite was eating the apple cucumbers as we were picking them. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot

I also grew up with my grandmother who always kept a garden, including a raspberry patch and rhubarb. So many memories of her and all the many things she grew and preserved from her garden! From eating peas straight out of the pod to the delicious raspberry jam that Grandma always made from the abundance of fresh raspberries, to the strawberry rhubarb jello that she made, it all created lifelong memories for me and my family.

Would be nice if you used raised beds that allow then to sit so they don't injure their backs.
@pattiannepascual3 күн бұрын
I need these with legs on them.bending so low kills my back and legs.If I had my own land,I would just make good soul and plant in the ground like I used to. Much more comfortable just sitting on the ground, but if you have to stand, you need these boxes at around hip level.I don't know why they make them so low to the ground.
@TheYoungNonnoКүн бұрын
I and other family help them to do the planting. Once the plants grow tall there’s a lot less bent over work. We do bring a bench for them to sit on if they want it because there wasn’t enough space to have seating all around everything that was permanent.
