When your on Corpse Run there is a buff that the game gives you for about a 5 min window so you can get back to the place however dangerous and recover your items. SO you have some good survivability. But it was still amazing he survived the ganging up with the Goblins and numerous strikes from the Deathsquito's.

It's not that bad to be honest. Once you place a workbench it inhibits spawns in the area. That's how you keep bases in hard biomes safe, you put a workbench near/under every building. My entire base is covered by the circles of workbenches because I place them here and there. I have one in or under every building, one near my wolf pen and I place them at intervals against my perimiter wall. Makes it so you can easily build everywhere at all times and it stops shit from spawning in and around your base. Plus if you do it well it even looks good. You can make little workbench sheds and such.

Tip for raising ground.. rather than spamming raise, get it to where the raise icon is the same height as a previous raised part then click... will mean your only raising once for a equal level plain rather than like.. 5 time (hope this makes sense) Edit... he is doing this in the video but for those that didnt know

You should Find Harald tre trader and sell your Ruby’s and other valuables and buy Megingjord for 950 gold coins this will let you carry 150 kg’s more He spawns in the Black Forest

so i did the exact same thing as you and had the same concerns. first of all you wait till theres a storm the waves will get way way higher, but it will not decay or affect your base at all only the rain will decay your wood structures not the ocean. secondly you should always build a skeleton of a build first before building a structure this ensures maximum stability. thirdly your structures decay from weather, however they will never get below 50% so do not worry about repairs or time while your building it never fully decays just gets weak and weathered. last of all you actually choose the best biome to build on out of sheer luck after exploring more you will see why ( no spoilers ) im kinda jelly i didnt think of building my island in the plains but i wanted to raise the land to make a bridge to farm easily.

Hey Broadbent - love the video series! One thing I hope you consider though is the importance of the rested/wet/cold bonus/debuffs to your stamina regen. If you get the "rested" buff before doing any major farming, you'll find your stamina refills much faster. Also, being wet or cold, will slow your stamina regen. It often makes sense to quickly pop down a fire to dry off quickly if you get wet. You can increase the duration of your rested bonus by increasing the "comfort" of your base. You can do this with things like deer rugs, chairs, benches etc. Great work - excited to see your island base come to fruition!

My first encounter with the plains was with fully upgraded bronze armor and shield and i got absolutely manhandled by everything there, so when you entered with your wooden tower shield i knew it was going to be entertaining:P

Tip on getting more stone, bring a 'Stonecutter' to the towers you find in the Black Forest and dismantle them. Tons of stone for much less work :)

​@@oab I just hopped in a world to check real quick and it was about 200 stone. It definitely is faster than manual mining. But, looking at your most recent videos, your greydwarf farm might be easier if not better. Either way, love the series! I'm about 250+ hours in but I still love watching people discover the game 😃

I created an island out of a hill on the coast. I dug around it until it was separated from the main land, then flattened the top and dug it out to form a basement, then built a stone base on top of it. After that, I filled the surrounding moat with spikes. So far, nothing has made it inside. During raids, the enemies focus on attacking the bridge, basically bottle-necking them and making it easy to take them out.

you were steering all the way to the left, which moments the rear of the boat entirely to the right, which was land, thats why you weren't going anywhere. either go forward to build some momentum before steering all the way to the left, or don't rudder all the way to the left to get some momentum forward. Imagine a vector from the rear of the boat, thats whats happening when you steer and row.

btw once you establish a level with raise ground, you can raise ground to that level for only 4 stone if you position the center of the circle properly.

Eh, once you place some building foundations the building itself will be up out of the waves. I thought there was a way of getting "unlimited" stone (with lots of effort) by digging down to bedrock? Build a little base in the hole for sheltered/rested bonus and just keep pickaxing the bedrock. Seems like a lot of work but at least you don't have to run around for it.

You should try to get the rested buff. farming would be faster since rested increases your stamina regen and you don't have to spend so much time waiting for your stamina to chop down trees.

Instead of using the hoe to raise the ground you can use the hoe to flat the ground on the same level as you are standing, this will take alot more time but atleast it doesnt cost the stone

You were concerned about building your island in the swamp biome, so you built in plains instead. Not the best idea there. You mentioned whether or not iron was end game gear - it is not. There are currently 2 more armor sets after iron. Even in end game gear the mobs in plains can easily destroy you.
