If you're gaming, I wanna say that's a bad idea. If you touch the screen, it works like alt tabing out of the window, so it won't work because when you touch it, the main screen won't receive input.

I could see this keyboard being really useful for digital artists. You could have stuff like Photoshop menus setup on the keyboard display within easy reach with the touchscreen. Basically any application that uses a lot of floating menus would make good use of this keyboard. It's still overpriced but it does have utility.

In case anyone is wondering, that single USB-C cable is likely meant for devices that support DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C. You can find it more commonly on laptops, but it's something you'll have to check if your motherboard or laptop supports it. It's not super common and usually just on higher end laptops unfortunately. Also, my favorite pasta are those corkscrew ones that come in three colors

It's called thunderbolt port. It's easy to identify. If you see a lightning sign above the USB-C port on your laptop/motherboard then you can plug in to that. But I rather use the port on laptops for power delivery so you don't have to carry a lot of wires when travelling

Funnily enough, we were recently talking about using a small bonus screen in a speedrunning discord, mainly to display notes and maybe livesplit. Essentially we found a cheapish (about 60 bucks) small rectangular monitor that's intended for use with a raspberry pi, but has an HDMI port, so it works perfectly well with a normal PC. It does not have a case, but that's about 10 bucks in filament and a day of 3D printing. This way you get to keep a decent keyboard and have a small monitor that can be actually moved around.

@@RobertJBareIII Sorry, I have notifications for replies turned off, we went off of the tutorial/expose at 0PW3goYAbQI (yt code), but that seems to be out of stock atm, at least at the price back then. But basically as long as it takes HDMI input and you can power it (for us preferably through USB) it should work with win or linux as an extended screen.

At this point, it's probably a better idea to try to hunt down a mini monitor (for PC thermal monitoring, or for Raspberry Pi stuff) and use that instead, which I've considered doing. As for what I'd use it for, I think notes are a great application, also maybe a daily quote for inspiration or anything you need to reference frequently.

I'm surprised I recognized those TTC Gold Pinks! I can definitely see a screen keyboard being handy for gaming! When I do FFXIV raiding I'll draw strats on my desk whiteboard, but this would work better than that (in theory) since I would be able to swap strats in a pinch. But that would be way further down the line, when it would be a more HQ build and/or lower price-point, and thus might work better than a tablet lol!

i have no idea what FFXIV raiding is but im gonna like your comment anyway
@Scotia__
@Scotia__ Жыл бұрын
@@anotherrandomchannel5206 lol, I appreciate it! For anyone wanting to know, it's just an MMORPG with (an amazing narrarive and phenomenal world-building & characters) optional content that are increasingly difficult boss fights for a team of 8 players. In FFXIV the boss fights follow a timeline for mechanics (essentially just the 'moves' the boss uses) and the party of 8 need to react to it all appropriately. It's very much like a dance you need to memorize the steps to, and each role has their own unique things to focus on. Usually there will be multiple patterns that can happen, forcing people to memorize a few different ways to solve the mechanic without dying. The tiers of difficulty are more and more punishing if a single person makes a mistake, often killing the whole party and forcing you to start the (~9-13 minute) fight over again. TL;DR = challenging boss fights for a group of 8 people, where they memorize the steps & puzzles as they try to kill the boss. I started used my desk whiteboard during a particular boss fight (P4S for those familiar), since I had trouble remembering which path to run when I was randomly assigned the red one instead of blue lol If I went the wrong way the person I was tethered to would take a lot of damage, and then things would explode and kill the party. For the most recent set of 4 Savage-tier fights I relied on my second monitor a lot, but a little keyboard monitor would have been infinitely more convenient 😅

I don’t think it’s meant to be used just with that little screen, but used in addition to the main screen. Like for example, an artist can have the canvas on the large screen, and the keyboard screen will be used for like, swapping brushes and having the color wheel. Or for a game developer, the viewport will be on the bigger screen while the files and object properties on the keyboard.

It's kinda neat and all I guess. But you could just get a portable monitor and put it infront of your keyboard. With some care you could find one that's similar size to your chassis so it matches and viola. Plus it'd be a normal aspect ration and in general much more useful.

Since it's a touch screen, I think this could be amazing for flight/space sims like Elite Dangerous. There are so many buttons that you don't use on a regular basis that are a pain to get to through menus. You could have a custom button layout on the screen that could even change with flight modes. It depends if you could run the game on your main monitor and something else on this secondary monitor and if that program could talk to the game (something like this probably already exists). Also, I wouldn't worry about getting hurt by caps on a board like that. Anything out in the open on that board is probably going to be like 5V or 12V and the caps will be small. This isn't a CRT with hundreds of volts on it even when it's off.

I think it's a case by case basis. I edit the ocassional video, do a lot of 3d work and 2d illustration and especially for 2D work and video editing I much prefer having the timeline, and a few controls separated so if I had this kb I'd just dock them to that screen (but honestly just getting a custom board for that works better. As for discord, not sure I'm not really in communities where gifs are posted that often. I already have the kamvas as a secondary for quick edits on illustrations and I just put my discord there as well so wouldn't hurt to have it on this kb's screen. The major problem is that for me I tilt my kb in all sorts of angles lol. I also game quite frequently and I can actually see this square of a beast taking up way too much uneeded space when I can just buy a seperate mini screen for that purpose. So unfortunately I really just see it as a gimmick.

I think some use cases could be music programs, chat for twitch or discord, alerts for streaming and such, stats like task manager/ valorant tracker type beat, and also like music programs where there are many menus that you can have open. Also alternatively using the extra screen to lurk in friend's streams on twitch/youtube (having 2 or more streams up in the aspect ratio)

I always get really nervous when you cover PCBs in press n seal. There are so many better, safer ways to wrap or cover a PCB with better sound profile and much safer operation overall. I used scotch 33+ electrician tape (two layers) on the back of my pcb, and it's rubbery texture helps aton with sound. Also, obviously, electrician tape is much much safer to use on static sensitive electronics. And since scotch 33+ is actual good tape, the glue is not gonna turn into goo after 2 or so years of being untouched. Can really recommend it!

Bad tape, 10 rolls for $4.98. Good Tape, $5.35 a roll. Buy the good tape! (you already know this, but I'm hoping to change the opinions of electrical tape worldwide by targeting the budget saving group, to scream, buy the good tape -- It's not even the same product as the bad tape).

If you’re going to use this method, you should really let the plastic rest a while in the air after taking it off the roll. Anytime you separate two insulators, it can generate thousands of volts that just sit there. Also, third on 3M electrical tape. I’ve gotten to where I throw away anything else I see.

In pro tools you can put stuff like the transport and the cpu usage monitor down there, and while gaming you can put system info down there I guess

Can we talk about that layout? Like what keys would you possibly put in two columns above the arrows like that?

This could be a great screen for a businessman who needs to have his calendar always on screen.

My favorite type of pasta is definitely Bucatini, they are like spaghetti but hollow, which gives them a really soft feeling to the chew, and they're still as long and glorious as spaghetti.

Only seems useful if you use it for some technical productivity stuff where you can put sliders etc. on the screen. But even then there is probably still better controllers than a screen...

If it would be possible to put the stream deck application on the screen, like the one you can get as an app on your phone, I think I'd do that

Yup having the mixer on the screen from your DAW would be perfect if anyone makes music.

I think for general use case? custom software with touch macros, or to be able to adjust your music on the fly, or a lot of things that wouldn't realistically take a lot of space but is nice to have at your fingertips (pun intended)
