That is a very sexy set up, I have to admit. As for me, at my age (50s), I've been doing this since 1995..almost 30 years, with over 8 feature films under my belt and heavy duty camera rigs...I want my Pyxis (whenever it arrives) to be as simple and light as possible. I'm trying to stay away from heavy duty rigging on any of my cameras (lately). My back is not what it use to be. 😆😆😆 Cool video brethren. Love the set up. Happy filming on your new film project.

Great video. This rig uses a lot of the parts I had tentatively sketched out to use on my Pyxis build once it arrives. I shoot mostly narrative and seeing you put this rig together is tops! 🔥🔥🔥

Great build. I still can't stand that permanent side monitor. I know they came out with a detachable monitor, but now you have two power drains and the detachable works in a natural cinema work flow. Plus, without a cover, that permanent side monitor is going to get scratched and crunched because of where it's located. Some 3rd party will come out with a cover to protect and forget that monitor.

I gotta say... the mid49 cage still looks the best. It's really unfortunate that the kb top plate almost forces you to use a nato rail handle.

Why would Blackmagic have the monitor hard mounted to the side like that. Someone signed off on that crazy decision.
@chasegibson90203 сағат бұрын
A lot of High End Cinema Camera's have a monitor or menu on the side of it. It's really not THAT bad of an idea
@punkattitude87022 сағат бұрын
Traditionally, the 1st AC operates on the left side of the camera, which explains the left side monitor
@timdanyo898Сағат бұрын
@@chasegibson9020 There is an Operator side and an AC side. The AC side is opposite of the Operator's side. It would have been a banger if that monitor was on the AC side. The operator is never looking down and to the side. They are facing forward and looking at the subject they are filming. The AC, on the other hand, is focused on supporting the operator. That monitor position is dumb. imho. An operator will ALWAYS shoot with a monitor directly facing them. Now you will have two battery draining monitors as the one will not be as useful and needed as the other and that hard mounted side monitor is going to get scratched and bumped a lot.
@phrasalsyntax43 минут бұрын
This camera is more intended for solo operation, without 1st AC. Cine 12K is more designed to be use with a 1st AC. If you have an extra assistant for Pyxis, it's better to dedicate him/her to do follow focus.
@timdanyo89833 минут бұрын
@@phrasalsyntax I agree. That's why that monitor position is weird. A solo operator will always be facing front towards the action with a monitor facing them and very rarely looking down and to the side at the camera while filming. If the monitor was for use for an AC it would be on the other side. Hopefully the mII version will totally get rid of that weird side monitor and make that section for manual button control and just have that awesome separate monitor mounted wherever.
