I totally agree with the comment. I wasn’t sure about St Faustina or the Chaplet of Divine Mercy until I found out how Pope St John Paul II was instrumental in the spreading of this devotion. I thought, Wow, who am I to doubt JPII the Great?! I love it now, I meditate on Jesus’ passion while saying it and I especially love saying it before the tabernacle or during Adoration. You have me pondering now how to atone for another’s sin. I really need to look into that somehow. Thank you for these regular videos - I look forward to them.

Right, and thanks, Ann. Whether or not the Divine Mercy Chaplet/Novena is ever my thing, the willingness to take seriously and be open to whatever penance we're given in Confession is key. Give God permission, said Mother Teresa....we could add, to surprise us!

Sometimes I think that certain saints and devotions play a role at specific parts of our lives and not at others. I used to view Saint Faustina askance but I've come to love the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Similarly, I've come to enjoy some programs on EWTN, especially Journey Home (loved your episode, btw) because I get something out of listening to other's peoples journeys coming into or back to the faith. The more prodigal the better! and even Mother Angelica, I used to not care for very much, but then I pushed some of my biases aside and was able to see great wisdom in many of her lectures.

Exactly! We must try to refrain from contempt prior to investigation! St. Faustina has probably been saving my life all along...
