Sis is one of the main reasons I want to see this when it comes to my town. Everyone bitter about this production can suck it up and watch one of the hundreds of productions done every year all over the US in the same style that's been done LITERALLY thousands of times before.

love hearing the differences in decisions between actors !! like the beginning where she says “i can’t say no” ,, so pretty and interesting to hear her do a pretty lil slide and make it breathy!!! so lovely to watch her!!

@@martykopulsky9858 calm down marty. She's singing circles around you and if you're so bitter you can create your own production. Oh no a black trans woman in my precious 60 year old show thats been done TO DEATH in the same damn ways for decades. Get a life sir. And some fucking respect.

@@martykopulsky9858 Hm. Ok, so, casting Sis is automatically “politically correct” because she’s trans? What roles should transgender theatre actors be allowed to play, then? There are a few roles written for trans actors, sure, but very few. So, are you saying trans actors should basically be shut out of musical theatre? Oklahoma is an important, classic piece of theatre. It sure seems a shame to deny anyone the chance to be a part of it just based on their identity, how they look, etc.

@@martykopulsky9858 Considering you've made a big deal about how you were "born a man" and sarcastically stated your "pronouns", I find it very difficult to believe that your problem is only with her voice. You even placed her name, "Sis", in scare quotes in your previous comment, showing a lack of respect even for her name. So, forgive me for not believing that you only care about her voice.

Am I the only one a little taken aback by the staging? I fell in love with this revival’s soundtrack, but it looks like all the actors are just standing around. This number always felt a lot more energetic and fun. Why are all the actors just lazing around on stage?
@broadwayindie2 жыл бұрын
The show is staged in realism. There is no dance numbers besides Farmer and the Cowman and the Dream Ballet for that reason. This show is about the text more so than everything else. It’s bare, raw, intense, and often times uncomfortable but brilliant in the way it tells the story.
@nickg53412 жыл бұрын
@@broadwayindie I’m just sad I never got to see it when it was in my city, I feel like I gotta really be there to understand what it’s going for cuz I’m all about the raw realism thing, I guess it just doesn’t translate well into isolated KZbin clips

The staging really helps with the feeling of it being a small town. Everyone's on stage pretty much the whole time watching everything. In a small time everyone knows everything about everyone and the staging gives that same feeling. It also helps because there are times Curly and Laurey are having a moment and Jud would just be in the background watching and staring.

@johnny burt i don't mean to be rude, but isn't that what all modern theater is? so much of theater is so exorbitantly priced, that this could be said about literally any production of a well-known show that isn't done by a community theater.
