"abraço da morte" that means "embrace of death" is a phenomenon that happens between two plants: one serves as a host and the other one as a guest. The guest needs to develop attaching itself to the host's stem, it allows to emit roots, which will serve as support. According to guest's growth, it compromises the life of the host killing it by strangulation caused by the growth of guest's roots around the stem. The embrace of death is a phenomenon that occurs commonly with Apuizeiro plants (Cecropiaceae) and happens when birds defecate its seeds, they settle and germinate in the bark of trees. Thank you for visiting, we hope you had fun and see you soon! Greetings from Brazil

Everytime i go driving around Japan, this is exactly what i see all over the country. One of their prettiest flowers grow on a vine they call Fuji, the wisteria, and so much of it has been choking out entire forests. All parts of the plant are also toxic from a chemical called wisterin. So while they have cultivated wisteria vines growing on metal brackets for viewing and the bunches of flowers are gorgeous, in the wild, wisteria is causing a TON of tree deaths and they can't do anything about it because it's literally named the same thing as their holy mountain. Apparently like another Chinese/Japanese import kudzu, they're becoming a huge problem in the SE United States as well as an invasive species, but the edible Kudzu could be taken care of if the US employs more herds of weedmowing goats. *Wisteria in Chinese is directly translated as "purple vine flower" 紫藤花, but they can be several shades of purple, but also white and pale yellow/green. Their vines can also grow to around 15cm(5.9") diameter.

Common misconception. Orchids aren’t parasitic as they don’t take nutrients from the host plant. But they are epiphytic meaning they attach to trees and rocks and take in the nutrients from insect/bird poop and bark/leaf debris in the water that runs off the host.
@josephbrisco37978 ай бұрын
In addition they form a symbiotic relationship with the tree and the fungi and other microlife that the host has sharing resources

Brazilian dessert pizza IS a thing, there is no mozzarella in the chocolate one though. We do use some cheese for a particular guava paste flavor, called "Romeo and Juliet", it's *good.* Anyway, if you really want to try Brazilian pizza, you'd have to go to Brazil again and go to São Paulo, because in terms of Italian descendents, São Paulo is just like New York, so the pizza game there is on another level. The sushi game ALSO is great here, although that's a bit of a new thing (biggest japanese population outside of Japan baby!). Anyway, if it ever interests you, you should go to Brazil again to do some videos on some of the other biomes we have. Caatinga, Mata Atlântica, Pantanal, Cerrado... It's a lot of diverse life, these places are also documented way less often compared to the Amazon to foreigners so it'd almost be an exclusive scoop!

the "hug of death" at 8:29 refers to when a parasitic plant laces itself around a host plant's trunk until it (the parasitic one) develops roots, killing its host (this is an oversimplification because I'm not a bottanist, I'm just translating). If you google INPA Abraço da Morte there are some pictures and articles about it (in portuguese)

And if you get yourself a tour in the back; you wouldn't be disappointed with some of the kindest and most knowledgeable entomologists, as well as every species you could imagine. Grew up next to the area, and when I was young. If it was a cold winter day in Colorado, I'd walk over there with a book and read on a bench inside the pavilion. 20:10 dessert pizza is definitely a big thing here in brazil, but the mozzarella cheese is controversial 😅 some people love it, some hate it. It's very traditional to keep the mozzarella, but most pizza places will not put it in if you ask, or just not put it at all. If you ever have the chance, try the banana with sugar and cinnamon pizza! It's my favorite both with and without the cheese😊 (people here in my region even make sandwiches of this combination, it's very traditional)

I'm from Rio, so a little biased, but here we have a very large tropical forrest (Tijuca Forest) in the middle of the city with very nice trails. It's really good to show the difference between the concrete jungle and nature, especially in terms of temperture and air quality.
