The way some of these people play shows me there's still tons of easy money to be made in poker.

The fun thing about poker is the gambling aspect. You could probably win in the long run only by playing the mathematically correct way, but that is boring as hell

alot of people say this. But never take time to consider how much history these players might have with one another, at this table, or in general how they play. Poker is about playing alot of hands consistently to be considered a winning player. no way you can watch these 4 hands and come to the conclusion that all of the players suck

@ 4:37 Montesi makes an error that a lot of amateurs make. He has a strong value hand but he has not raised enough to get callers behind him to fold if they have any type of draw. $1,400 more to call for the first caller (hellmuth) means hellmuth is getting 3 to 1 direct on the call. And if hellmuth calls (which he did), the other person is getting 4 to 1 on their call (meaning they need something weak to not continue with their hand. Which Deeb has in 2nd pair. If she had top pair and/or a gutshot with an overcard (i.e. like AJ) she might continue with the hand getting moderate direct odds and implied odds if she hit a K vs 2 people in position.. Also, very few flush draws are folding, so he should be raising large. $3,000 is the minimum and $3,500-4,000 is a good range to put the raise size. If Montesi made it $3,500 on the flop and Hellmuth called... he jams the turn and hellmuth would fold his hand getting less than 3 to 1 to call.
@famfam0
@famfam0 5 жыл бұрын
or he wanted the calls for value. he gave phil bad odds on the turn (i.e. it was a good bet) but called anyways and got lucky. That happens when you slowplay. You get unlucky sometimes.

Because u play 1/2 , people only play top-10 hands in 1/2. Ranges are very narrow in 1/2. The higher the stakes , ranges become more wide & more bluffing etc

Sorry I deleted my comment as when looking at the math again it was actually pretty close in terms of equity and probably doesn't matter as much when you factor in the implied odds etc. But it probably still matters to some degree and some programs shouldn't factor in mucked cards at all because the math still remains regardless of whats been mucked. otherwise we wouldn't be dividing 8/44 it would go by 8 divided by the amount of cards mucked, but I do see your point. Thanks for clarifying.
