The little vacuum solenoid that likely failed in the exhaust baffle system is behind the right taillights. Mine failed on my 08 last fall on our annual road trip, not good to have them open all the time when highway cruising. Got the replacement at Amazon, GM Genuine Parts 25794610 Engine Intake Manifold Tuning Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve. Not hard to install, you can find KZbin video tutorials.

At the time, I couldn't obtain the GM part (perhaps it's available now), but I was able to use a suitable substitute (Pierburg 7 22908 03 0 Turbocharger Boost Control Valve). Albanybrian is correct - it's behind the right taillight and it's easy to replace! Once you've replaced the offending part, you'll really enjoy the mild-to-wild feature for your exhaust. Hey Josh! I just found your channel and Goldie series this weekend - I’ve been binge watching the series, definitely learning some new tips for my own yellow C6Z06 for track! That big brake kit looks so much easier, and I had NO idea about the upper control arm stud kit that replaces the stock bolts (another video I watched). Bought that kit immediately and I can’t wait to install! I’ve been on the fence of splurging $$ for some new Apex forged VS-5RS wheels, the fitment of the 18x11 and 18x12.5 look so good on yours I might just have to do it! I’ve been struggling to find good 200 TW track tires that come in our rear stock size and the only option is to drop down to 18s in the rear but I want to do it right! 😅 P.S. I skipped forward to the latest video about Goldie- I know she’s got some work to get back her up and running. I’m rooting for you and getting her back out on track!! Just wanted to say your videos are a breath of fresh air and I’m learning some new things; I haven’t been able to drive my C6Z lately but this canyon video made me so happy that we all have shared experiences.

Goldie is looking better every time you post. Love the Apex wheels, honestly going to get the Cup Car version of those rims on mine when I can get the chance. Keeping the stock mufflers isn't a bad route given they do actually flow pretty well from the factory. You should get the X-Pipe from Corsa to help increase some of the flow through there along with increasing the fun factor (more noise) by a bit. Really curious on your choice of tires though, does the increased size rub anywhere on sharp corners or bumpy roads?

Yep - it's really easy to switch between two sets of wheels with TPMS sensors with the tool, although you have to position the tool perfectly on the rim for it to work.
@yzScott Жыл бұрын
@@JoshVanVeld There are several factory tools you will probably acquire. The GM suspension tool J-42188-A is the best way to take the suspension apart without damaging the giant ball joint on the control arms. Part of this year's upgrades include a swap to a built TR6060 with a narrow ratio gear set (no more giant gap between 4th and 5th). With that, I'll be free to pick up a set of drag radials. But even without a second set of rims, I've used the TPMS tool surprisingly often.

@@JoshVanVeld You got that right on the nose regarding the sweet spot. Initially I was shopping for a C7 GS as I wanted to stay with naturally asperated and still have the "wide body". But the C6 is soooo damn sexy with that legendary ls7.
@FL50ssp Жыл бұрын
Josh. I'm on the fence between C6 Z06 and C7 GS and wanted to ask if you have any useful data on how your setup compares (cooling, reliability, lap times...etc.) to a stock C7 GS (non-Z07) with manual trans at AMP or any other race track? C6 Z06 track cooling issues (+ expense to address, not cheap) are of concern, while the C7 GS doesn't have these cooling issues. Thanks for any input you can provide.
@JoshVanVeld Жыл бұрын
Hey there. Cooling isn't an aspect of the C6 that I've delved into yet, so I'm not really equipped to answer. I haven't done a traditional track day yet where you're trying to maximize value by driving for an entire session. I know that pro driver Andy Pilgrim ran a 1:23.6 in a C7 GS at AMP on Cup 2 tires, which is an incredibly fast lap for a stock car. With enough mods, a C6Z can get there, but the question is, how much do you need to spend to get there and do it reliably? The LS7 is a modern classic of a motor, but it's known to have reliability problems. For me it was more interesting and more fun to get the C6Z and go down the mod path, but it will be difficult or impossible to get my money back down the road, whereas the C7 GS doesn't need mods to perform well on track and provide a much more modern street driving experience to boot.
@FL50ssp Жыл бұрын
@@JoshVanVeld Thank you for the info, certainly helpful. You are right... 1:23.6 is flying for a stock C7 GS, especially given the low (relative) power numbers. Good luck with your build and stay safe on track.
