put the clams in your water filters next time. They are filter feeders and will help clean the water, when big you can eat them!

That's how the weather is where I am east coast. Usually it's dry then bam nov 1 it starts raining just about every day lol. This year it hasn't rained in over a month, plus it's warm, and I'm not trapping. No point in going after red fox, esp since I have about 100 of them, from raw frozen hides to tanned for both taxidermy and garment. I bet if I started trapping fox on nov 1, it would have rained nov 2 and still be raining today lol. Why I like hay sets so much.

So im new to this stuff. What kills the beaver when its only caught in the leg? How does it die? Drowned?

J demonstrates it in some other vids. Basically the trap is attached to the rod and can slide one way but not the other so once the animal is trapped any movement it makes into the deeper water it can't get back up until its fully submerged and drowns. Called a drowning rod. :)
@chevyheavy79
@chevyheavy79 2 ай бұрын
So let me get this right just the weight of the trap is heavy enough to hold a 40 lbs beaver under water? If so I take it that beavers are very weak animals then. Do I got that right?
@willp5002
@willp5002 2 ай бұрын
@ no… the bar is pushed out into deeper water. Trap is connected by a piece of metal that can only move down the rod into the deeper water. The beaver can go down but not up once trapped until it it goes to the bottom on the rod in the deeper water and then drowns. Same idea as how a zip tie can only go one way. Just google ‘drowning rod’.
