I think you hit the nail on the head. I continued reading the manga because I couldn't wait to see how the story unfolded. I wasn't ready to be emotionally caught up in Chizuru and Kazuya's character development. I don't think Kazuya is supposed to be a likeable character in Season 1, but that doesn't mean he isn't supposed to be relatable. We all have parts of ourselves that we hate, but that's what makes Kazuya and Chizuru feel so real because they also have parts about themselves that they hate. Seeing the 2 of them figure out more about themselves and each other is what makes Rent-A-Girlfriend captivating for me.

I have never seen "Rent a Girlfriend" nor did I even know what the hell it was until 15 minutes ago but the way you tell a story in your videos is so compelling that I just want to binge watch the entire thing now... Honestly, each of these videos do such a good job of conveying the feelings you get while watching the shows that sometimes I get more emotional watching your recaps than the shows themselves.. Great job, keep it up! I just want to say: I WAS HERE BEFORE THE CHANNEL EXPLODED (yells in hipster)

The way you ended this video got me a bit emotional dude, holy shit. I genuinely agree with what you said. I initially didn't expect anything from this series, but the more I read, the more I realise its more than just your typical ecchi anime. To me, if you take away all the ecchi elements, the fanservice, what you get is a story of how two flawed human beings help each other. Yes, the series has flaws, I admit. But to me, it doesn't ruin the enjoyment I get from this series. Keep up the good work!

Dude, I appreciate this video so much for so many reasons. This video said exactly what I needed to hear. Recently I've been feeling kinda down because I've seen so many people hate this Anime/Manga when I feel like I'm one of the very few people who loves it. I also see a lot of people online who put down the people who enjoy this series and it actually made me kinda sad. I was beginning to believe that maybe there was something wrong with me. After all, I'm one of those people who tends to dislike the popular stuff, when everyone else loves it and I sit there wondering how could you love something so flawed but hate something so good, in my eyes. This isn't just applying to Rent-A-Girlfriend, because I can understand why people may dislike it, but I feel that this series gets so much unnecessary hate, because that's the "cool" thing to do. Yes, it has flaws and the criticisms you gave it, are undeniable. But despite its flaws, I really love it and I'd give it a 10/10. That score is by no means objective, but to me, that's how much I love it, because I believe the characters are grounded and realistic, but just because they are that, doesn't mean there can't be some light-hearted anime tropes included. I think the reason that drew me in, to begin with, was how relatable I felt toward Kazuya. I could see a lot of myself in him, which made me want to root for him more because I understood his actions and how he felt. Now I'm not saying I've gone to some of the extremes he has, but rather I can relate to his thought process about things. Thanks to your video, I've realized that from now on, I'm gonna ignore all the hate for the things I love and just move on with my life and enjoy what I enjoy.

Everything you said is what i love about this manga. I often find myself too emotionally attached for my own good. The art is phenomenal as well. I actually started watching the anime recently and caught up to the manga afterwards. I saw a lot of posts about this anime, but it kinda looked like a typical harem. Decided to watch after nearly a year since I don't have anything else to do. Since the anime ending was a cliffhanger, i decided to read the manga, and that was the best decision i made. I didn't expect the manga to be that good and captivating.

I really liked the video and like yourself, i too started reading the manga after watcing the anime. I understand people quitting the anima because of Kazuya's overall personality, but i hope once the second season comes out and people see his character development, will give it another shot.

Ya know I enjoyed the story so far, but Kazuya's behavior and immaturity bother me so much that I dropped the series maybe faster than I should have. You changed my mind Kaze, I think ill give it another shot.

The manga is where it gets better. The first season of the Anime stops right before the eventual character development that Kazuya undergoes. It takes a while, but for me it was so worth it. Glad I was able to change your mind 🙂

I started KanoKari in 2018 and enjoyed it, but it’s dropped the ball on a good amount of stuff to make it a great series imo. I still read, and enjoy it but stuff like the trial date, Mami’s absence, and Kaz overreacting over Chizuru is annoying imo.
@kaije7art3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. Sorry you feel that way about such a great series. Are you caught up, by chance? Because some of the things you're talking about specifically make me unsure you are caught up. Also, I personally feel like Kazuya needs to overreact at times for comedy relief. It would be boring if he just handled everything with the cool calm that he handled several things in recent chapters.
@Eblivious3 жыл бұрын
@@kaije7art I’m caught up, the trial is still ongoing in a way and imo it was the perfect opportunity for Kaz to end it to show how serious he is for Chizuru. Mami was gonna for 100 chapters and finally returned, but it sucked it took that long since she’s interesting, and kaz overreacting was for sure funny at first but now it’s pointless since they’re going on two years of knowing each other. It’s just like having to hear the crowd go crazy over one of the girls is overplayed as well. I’m not bashing the series at all, but it’s dragged some stuff.
