@@OneShot_WOLF I discovered them through Heroine and I'm a shoegaze head but the Dark Pool is a better album. Id really like it if they pulled a page out of loathes book by being heavier but more experimental at the same time. A combination of both albums

This album has made its way into probably my top 5 of all time. They struck absolute gold with it, and imo it stands as by far one of the most unique recent metalcore albums.

The Dark Pool - Sundowning - I Let It In And It Took Everything… George Lever produced masterpieces back to back to back. Words cannot suffice how brilliant that dude is. All 3 projects will stand the test of time, and one of them (Loathe album), is my favorite record of all time, while Sleep Token are my favorite band of all time (that album being what got me into them). The entire feel and ethereal ambience and atmosphere he created in The Dark Pool is so damn beautiful, eerie, and unique. I hope more people give that guy his praises sooner than later for the colossal classics he’s produced for the scene. Man is a genius🔥

Yeah viper room for me didnt do it. The Dark pool and butterfly ep are true thornhill. If you haven't checked it out already they have an even older ep 13 its pretty good. Plus you got limbo and temperer wich are still top notch. Dark Pool 2 needs to happen though.

This album is amazing. Their sound is truly unique. When I'm craving something technical, ethereal, deep, and chunky there is nothing that satisfies like this album. The lyrics are unbelievable as well. Ever time I listen to WWGWWD I get full body chills and nearly cry. That song hits deep...

What a surprise! Where we go when we die was the first track, I ever heard of them. After this, the album was recommended by the algorithm and I listened to it while working and it immediately found a place within my soul. This album was one of my top 3 discoveries last year. (Currents - The Way It Ends was another one. And Polaris - the Death of Me All are amazing in my book.) It is heavy, it has sick riffs, but the cleans are vibey and dreamy and not standard over-polished metalcore. You mentioned the shoegaze elements. I love them in this arrangement. My biggest love in this kind of music is when voices go high. Jacob does a fantastic job with including his head voice so effortlessly. And the sound scapes in combination with Metalcore are also something, that I don’t get very often. I love the electronic influences. They add to the uniqueness of their sound. To me this is a modern classic album, because I love to listen to it from start to finish. If I had to decribe my absolute favorite sound, this album would perfectly summarize it. All the elements just work perfectly together. Thanks for this surpise of happiness. I was singing along to almost all of the songs. I started writing down my favorite tracks, but every time a new song starts, I’m like: Ok, write that down. The whole album is so good. Red Summer, In my skin, Lilly and the Moon, Coven Human and Where we go when we die. I could talk forever about how this album makes me feel, but I’ll let it be for now. Where we go when we die is a banger final track. Dreamy and filthy. Love that combination. I see why you want more aggression sometimes. To me this album is great because all the not-harsh elements are usually used less in other bands and this album gives me a lot of it and the harsh parts usually hit a little bit harder. Sure, they are not as hard as the current Currents album.
@RILRIL1
@RILRIL1 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you on how the aggression hits harder because they don't use it too much. To me it makes it clear that Thornhill does care about genres or labels. They are going to make the music they need to make and stay true to their inspiration. That approach is what allowed them to craft this masterpiece.

Album is truly special. I'm not sure what it is but this struck a chord that was hard to find in any other metalcore album, let alone album in all of music in general at least for me. So many emotions in this one. "Butterfly" their album before this is highly slept on as well I think. Unfortunately "Heroine" left me a bit disappointed. Hoping they can strike the iron hot again in the future.
