Edit: I know people are saying that these games are not remakes, and yes, you are correct. They are both unique games in their own right. To answer your DQ-related question: -Overture is the serie's main theme, you'll hear it everywhere. -While it is an original Monsters game, it's not the first (although the last one to come out in Europe did so 13 years ago on the DS), but it seems to be set on IV's world. -The main character is Psaro, and the character at the last scene is Solo, IV's protagonist (aka one of the Smash people). By all means, check the game out. Monsters is amazing and so much more than just DQ x Pokémon.

Rival companies are always cool Its due to things like those that we got games such as Capcom Vs SNK 2, which is one of my favourites fighting games like, ever (For the ones unfamiliar with the fgc, Capcom has Ryu, like, THE fighting game character. I got goosebumps with the Mario RPG reveal. And they did a great job with this remake, recreating the game into 3D while maintaining the artstyle. I think I realize now what happened, the game was made using 3D rendering software and then exported as 2D sprites, that's why the remake looks seamless and fantastic.

As a fan on monster taming turn based combat rpgs I'd love to see Choc play Monster Hunter Stories, and by extension the sequel game, so him saying that he's interested in Dragon Quest Monsters gives me a little bit of hope that he might play both series of games.

I know SMRPG and SMB Wonder is getting all the hype right now, but I am so stoked for the new Dragon Quest Monsters game. It's one of the most consistently good monster-catching RPGs out there and playing as DQ4's antagonist Psaro is really interesting to me, as a long time fan of the series.
