Honestly, CGB, while I understand that people want to see the successes much more than the failures, it's also good for a less experienced and less skilled player like me to see a better player like you also struggles in the meta. Makes the meta more bearable. Even if it was just occasional, I'd love to see more of this.
@dabhands44
@dabhands44 Ай бұрын
I concur whole-heartedly with this. Also from a perspective of learning the meta, if all i see are the successes then i feel ive not learned anything. Its just as important to learn what can defeat you when using the meta decks 👍
@FancyCatOfficial

I don't want that. If deck is bad, deck is bad. Meta is meta. You just lose to aggro, it's what happens

100%. My biggest pet peeve in magic content is when we only see a deck popping off. Its almost as if creators forget that the fun from success comes from knowing you can lose and that the deck succeeded in spite of that. I understand it seems like getting curb stomped by turn three isnt fun to play - but its actually very useful for me and other viewers to understand the deck's matchup strengths.

Honestly I feel that showing the loses and struggles that you go through while making these videos proves why you are the one in best of one. Because at the end of the day no matter how good the deck is how well you play it or how many times you go first you can still end up on a losing streak. It happens to us all. Magic the gathering is a strategy base game for a reason. You not always going to win but your not always going to lose. You'll always have my support CGB. The Man that never didn't have it!

Just chiming in with feedback on the video from a very casual player's perspective. Simply put - great video. It's entertaining, informative, and real. I like the less-tailored approach of not only-showing wins. I think showing the losses add value by reminding us what it's really like to play best of one Standard.

I personally think its more organic to see win and losses, no deck only just wins and seeing the losses can help make people better players to see what lines of play might've salvaged the game or the risks you chose to take.
@krystallinekris

Not to mention, it does show what matchups are bad / difficult / just outright counters to your deck you're playing as well, which can be crucial to know when playing a deck.

@@krystallinekris i concur certain meta decks you'll see in ladder a lot, so seeing a breadth of games to see what matches ups you'll encounter will make it easier to decide what decks you want to pilot.

Content and viewer retention wise, I totally understand the cutting games philosophy. You basically have to show wins to keep people engaged, it's why everyone does it. Since I use your videos to learn, seeing every game is beneficial for me, especially because your tough-spot analysis really shines in the tough losses. If you're talking through your plays, I'm learning and having fun.

Thank you for posting this. I think it’s more important to show how these decks truly perform and not only when you win against the meta decks. I can tell you that I myself have made decks from your videos and I soon regret making them because your success in the videos do not always work out the same way with the general public. I will say out of all your videos you posted recently, your Boros angels deck is legitimately a meta deck for standard. Not too many people run it and I have been smashing arena because of it. So thank you.

Was an interesting idea, but also shows why the meta cards/decks have their spots. The more card slots used for cooking, the more likely the deck is to be missing a key component (in this case card draw/advantage and consistency). Thanks for including the video!

I must not rage. Rage is the streak-killer. Rage is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my rage. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the rage has gone there will be nothing. Only the streak will remain.

Keep up working out in the gym. You do not need to have a streak of working out everyday. In fact, recovery is a major part of hypertrophy training. So please, make sure you have days off each week. Set a goal of going 3-4 days a week to start. As your recovery gets better over time, increase to 5-6. You got this bro!

Oh man, I'm salty that I copied and updated an MTGGoldfish deck recently - a Simic Ramp Desert deck that sought to doppelganger some deserts and Spelunking to produce 20+ crime lands. Neat concept, but I felt deceived when I realized just how paper-thin it was against any sort of aggression! I'm excited to see and try out new decks, but definitely keep some losses in your videos, it helps keep expectations level!

What I've learned from playing around with tri color aggro is how much worse color screw can be when your stall point is at two or three lands. And how badly those mono color lands mess you up. It's really hard to justify more than one basic as a mono color source to cover for basic checks.

Honestly, I’m more interested in watching the failures than the wins. Because in failures there’s more chance to see mistakes to learn from. Sure the opponent also makes mistakes, but opponents don’t explain. You do. So I can understand your choices, your perspective and your reasoning behind every mistake. So, I’m all up for videos where you show wins and losses.

I like the honest approach have you thought about best of three standard? A lot of content creators skip out on this very relevant dynamic of the game...we can own in best of one on arena all day but if any of us go sit down at a GP or ptq without the skills associated with sideboards we will be at a severe disadvantage just a thought bud GGs CGB!

CGB is one of the VERY few arena players i respect. He doesnt BS and say "oh this deck is just mega op the best deck ever" and then take out every loss to artificially make the deck look good. If its jank, he says its jank. he talks about the strengths and weakness of a given deck. 90% of MTG content creators deliberately mislead players into thinking random decks are good, and they end up burning their wildcards on nonsense. That wouldnt be a problem if the economy of MTG Arena wasnt so dogshit bad. If they had Runeterras economy, MTG arena would be the most popular online card game EASILY. Instead WotC decides greed is more important than player experience.

Grab a powerful card or theme that doesn't have a deck good enough. Make a deck. Show us 6 games. Even if you loose. Then change it to be better (of it didn't work well first time) and explain changes. Give us 6 games. Then do this once more and give us ur conclusions. The best part for me is brewing decks. Being original. And i have above 50% winrates without playing any meta decks (though I play mostly explorer). You're an amazing player, I'm sure you can make fringe archetypes work. And if not, the process is always entertaining. Make a gruul counters deck. Make a merfolk deck. A selesnya artifacts. Grab an idea and try :) id love to hear your thought process on the deck building and improvement (i have a standard boros humans for example. No convoke)

just make a black white deck with no shelly and indirect lifegain like the 2 cost enchantment when stuff dies, or Edgar, or the three cost black enchantment that drains once a turn or becomes a creature. And you will destroy every red deck you face. Putting boros spells and forge in there is gonna super charge your opponents you need that wipe that reduces cost by the # of creature or other removal

Seeing all the games is a great thing once in a while. Yeah, watching mono-red doing mono-red things over and over isn't exactly gripping content, but I don't generally watch for the gameplay. I watch for the personality. TBH, the thing that gets me to just shut off a video most of the time is the second or third Sunfall, either from you or from the opponent. What did they say about Veil of Summer? One card that invalidates entire strategies? Yeah, hate it.
