Love Amami. Was the first trip I took when I was a JET in Kagoshima. I'm torn about this video because on the one hand, it's good for Amami if more tourists go there to visit but in the other hand I don't want it to be over run by tourism like a great many of the amazing places in Japan!

Great to see you really taking advantage of your time here and explore. Sometimes I worry about what I show that isn't "mainstream touristy Japan" as I don't want to suddenly get viral and turn it into one, causing the place to get overwhelmed with tourists. But really in hindsight I guess I shouldn't worry, it shouldn't? happen? I couldn't but help notice your sensor (Canon 77D?) needs cleaning now tho. If you are scared to do it yourself I highly recommend going to a service center. I use a Nikon full frame camera and last time I tried in Japan sensor cleaning at an official service center here it was less than ¥2000. It was $70 in Australia...
@CurrentlyHannah6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I guess that kind of thing could happen but I could also be helping a lot of businesses over there thrive a lot easier than before with limited tourism? I dunno. I just like sharing the uncommon places with people :) Thanks for letting me know! I actually didn’t notice it at all so I’ll have to look into getting it cleaned!
@zedamex6 жыл бұрын

I think you meant "it doesn't feel like Tokyo". Japan is actually 75% jungle/mountains.
@scwhk16 жыл бұрын
Tokyo=Japan... Typical...
@gioru62756 жыл бұрын
As a Japanese, I think "it doesn't feel like Japan" is correct. Because I thought same thing. Japan is actually about 70% forest/mountains, but rain forest and mangrove forest are pretty rare. If you want to see that you need to go to remote southern island. Amami island is one of them. So I have never seen mangrove forest before.
@zam0236 жыл бұрын
You will not find mangrove and rain forest in the temperate climate of mainland Japan. Only Okinawa and other islands in the south have tropical climate to support those type of vegetation.

Noice! Would love to experience driving on the left hand side. Fun fact visiting my bestest friends in Singapore for the first time since i knew i was in great hands did not research anything. After coming out if the airport they said we were getting on a taxi...they just waited for me to open the drivers side door and laughed out loud when i realized it was a left sided country! Poor driver was so shocked did not speak the entire ride =j
