Whaaat?! 93% of the beaches are sand. Of that 70% are white fine grain and the rest are thicker yellow sand or coarse sand beaches. On a sunny day, like today you can forget you're in the UK with the palm trees and clear or turquoise water.. DEFINITELY check out more of the coast!

Cornwall is a lovely part of the UK - with or without sunny weather. It fiercly retains an identify which is clearly different from the rest of southern England. It is very over-visited in the peak summer months (basically when school's out) but visit in late spring or early summer (as you did) or from mid September to mid October and you'll catch it at best. I live here and have done for well over a decade and honestly I still find out something new about it each week. So much history and mystery to it. If you do a return trip I would say go see Truro Museum (with its egyptian collection and its display of fun automatons), Truro Cathedral which is magnificent, St Mawes and St Ives which are both gorgeous and take a look at historic houses like Lanhydrock, Pencarrow and Cothele. Newquay can be a fun place at the right time of year (5 beaches!) as can Padstow - but avoid peak seasons at most of these places. Newquay has an airport, you can fly from London City to there and rent a car.

This was a FANTASTIC video!! I love seeing people thoroughly enjoying all the different places the UK has to offer, rather than sticking to just touristy London areas. As a native Brit, living in a bit of a dreary town, it's sometimes easy to forget just how pretty the land I live in really is. Which is why I enjoy these types of videos so much - it helps me fall back in love with my country all over again and time I'm getting a bit jaded. Visiting the Eden Project is one of my bucket list items, as is visiting the rest of Cornwall - it's SO gorgeous, especially in the sun!!

I am from Perranporth, Cornwall originally. I'm glad u r down in kernow. In your next trip, take the train to St Ives and see porthmeor beach. Then have a philps pasty at Hayle. Continue to Godrevy to park and eat it looking at the light house and miles of sand dunes at Hayle Towans. Next time to drive east to Porthtowan for blue bar pub. Continue up the coast to Chapel Porth for the coast walk 40 mile view next to wheal coates old tin mine. Another day try Perranporth, Perran sands and the 6th century lost church of St Piran. Another day, holywell bay and if low tide see the wreck and the ancient holywell. Another day go up past Newquay to Bedruthan steps, then padstow and Tintagel castle (king arthurs so called castle).. Enjoy

8:28 is a perfect example of dichotomous nature of the UK. The harsh bare rocks on the edge of the sea are beautiful in their own bleak way, but then those same rocks on the higher cliffs are covered in dark green and so much more special ( for me ). It is one of the upsides to plenty of rain, there are a thousand shades of green in nature, and those deep dark rain born greens on a sunny day are great.

I believe that Land's End was actually sold to an American company: that seems credible, as the last time I went to Land's End it had been turned into a ghastly theme park complete with inappropriate themes, and slushies. It made me very sad, and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

Here’s something that will blow your mind there’s a rail track under the sand that is used to supply the Mount during long spells of storms that we get often in Cornwall, to allow for goods to be sent from the mainland in a large chest cart that runs under the sand! If you Google st Michael’s mount freight railway I’m sure you’ll find some information. Most people don’t even know it’s there! Hope you had an amazing time in my home of Kernow! X

The Beach at Poryhcurno (where the minimac Theatre is) is a little gteen hut that is a blue plaque building & is where the first Telegraph Cables were laid from to America,Australia, Egypt,India,& Africa by Brunels Great Eastern the only Steam ship that had both the capacity to carry enough cable & also enough Coal to journey both ways as no coal had been discovered in Australia at that time?? Over the years the origional cables wrre replaced with morse cables & more recently fiber optic they still start out from thesame beach but from a modern building hidden further up the beach the little green hut is now a museum, from which worldwide comunications was born & ultimately lead to the WWW & INTERNET!! I am currently on a holiday on the north Devon/ Cornwall boarder. I'm staying at Bucks Cross ( Devon ) right on the ocean coastline, just a few miles up the A39 Atlantic Highway from the Cornwall border. For the best beaches, you'll want to visit Newquay and Bude in North Cornwall , i was at Bude a couple of days ago,in fact, i went two days on the trot.!! Also, North Devon has some very nice sandy beaches as well ,Staunton Sands i went to yesterday, and there's another beach just a bit further around the headland called Ruda. All these beaches are surfers paradises, with great facilities.. Get back down here and spend more time.. I'm on a two week break, and I've still got a week and a half to go.!! More beaches for me.. Another great place to visit again just down the road from where i am is the coastal village of Clovelly. Where no vehicles can go, it's a privately owned village with a visitors centre ,well worth a Google nd a visit..!! Great video, btw..🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧👍✌️❤️

Well...if you could have heard the excitement in their voices once they had spotted the signs basically saying 'This way to the Eden project'. It's fantastic there...seriously. Carnivorous plants...( Venus flytraps ) and so much more. REALLY worth taking the trip there !

A couple of things though; if memory serves the Lizard is a fair old drive (1 hour plus) from the Eden Project, so if you get car sick perhaps not the best choice, secondly (though this only works if you drive) you won't get car sick if you do the driving! Finally you might try going to the craft fare in St. Just (in August) it's amazing! Lands end is worth *one* visit but that's it. I think you are hooked - one visit to Cornwall is *never* enough!

Oh had to say worst decision ever to go to lands end, us Cornish HATE IT. Peter de Savary, a London businessman destroyed lands end by build the start of the theme park, subsequent owners have just extended it! When I was a child it was ALL FREE, and the only building for miles was the first and last house! The rest was just walks and miles of wild life and common gauze with its bright yellow flows as far as the eye can see. Hence why we hate the theme park and de Savary for! 👍

I lived in London for 6 years when I was offered a job at 19, it was great at that age, I even did the obligatory walk every person not from London seems to do along the stony beach in Brighton 😀But when I was offered a transfer near my old home in the Marches (The Shires on the England/Wales border) when I hit my mid 20s I jumped at the chance. I now live about 5 miles from my old family home, about 60 to 90mins away from the sandy beaches of South Wales, I have the Black Mountains rising up in the fields behind my house, and from the front of the house, I have a lake about 100m away and a ruined castle which I can see from a bedroom window, would I live in a big City now? Not a chance, I'm an outdoorsy person, only really happy in hiking boots, climbing or on my MTB, the big city, did it, wouldn't do it again. 🙂

I've only been to the Lizard once and I did it by bicycle...oh and it's 'mainland' UK, not the southernmost if you count places like Jersey and Guernsey

Jersey and Guernsey are not part of the UK….Never have been, never will be! They are merely Crown dependencies! You were allowing a little bit of of the old colonialism to slip out there bud! Be more watchful in future!

The Channel Islands are not actually part of the UK, so the southernmost point in the UK is still actually in Cornwall, on the Isles of Scilly.

In terms of sand beaches, you're best visiting west and north West parts of the UK as they are the oldest sea fronts and have had the most rock erosion. The south and east coast of England only met water 9,000 years ago with the sinking of Doggerland. Up to that point Britain was attached to France and Denmark by fertile plains. Come back in 12,000 years and the beaches will be sandy 😊

Actually although not a separate country, Cornwall’s Duchy status makes it technically separate from England, this is very much played down by the English. It is also a Celtic nation like Scotland, Ireland,Wales, Isle of Man with it’s language similar to Breton & Welsh. The Cornish certainly don’t like being called English.

Cornwall is now part of England, however the original Cornish are Cymru Celts just like the Welsh. Their Language, which is hardly spoken now, is quite similar to Welsh and is in the same language group.

galinor, Cornwall’s County status Is de facto, not de Jure! The Cornish are still the Cornish and always have been! Talking about the original Cornish makes no sense at all, FFS.

Not just Cornwall, which admittedly is very beautiful, but there are wonderful places all across the UK, North to South, East to West, there are many, many beautiful places to visit, One lifetime is not enough. By the way you must have been unlucky with your beach visits, nearly all beaches in the UK that I have visited in my 77 years have had lovely sand. You also had one statement wrong, parts of the UK is not like the Mediterranean, rather the Mediterranean, at last the European part, is like the UK.

@notme1345 Impossible - 14 years of Tory incompetence, corruption and misrule have already done that. That's why only the rich can afford to live there.
