Pete Townshend's Guitar riff on Can't Explain is Priceless and more particular memorable in this live 2000 version than the 1966 original But as I will always say The Who essentially helped invent punk Rock Punk Rock was always around before the late 70s it was just more concealed and hidden with Bands like The Who.

People will believe what they want to believe. All the information that we, the people, received during that whole scandal, was colored by sensationalism and celebrity. In his book, he didn't address the issue at length, but pointed you in a direction where you could research the info for yourself. The cops who worked on the case even believe him to be innocent of the charges. But you don't see the Media clambering to report that story.
@gmlasam6 жыл бұрын
@bill koehler.... I strongly disagree... Pete wrote many classic guitar riffs in his younger days. His guitar work in Live at Leeds is a guitar player's handbook... Do you play guitar bill koehler?
@tatethompson12345 жыл бұрын
He's more polished and precise, yes but better? Eh, I'd say most fans such as myself prefer '68 to 'late 70's when he used Hiwatt stacks, SG Specials and Les Paul Deluxes. His playing was wild, untamed and his leads were off the cuff sloppy and ready to run off the rails at any second but somehow he brought it back in. These days with a Stratocaster he's very lazy, less lead work and just wails on the tremolo bar instead of coming up some creative lick off the cuff.
@Vichedges4 жыл бұрын
I totally disagree. His tone is terrible since he switched to Fenders. I much prefer his early stuff. Technically he’s improved but sound, attack, feel and attitude wise no way.

pure magic... blessed to have had The Who as the sound track to my childhood. When we lost Keith, it was definitely tough to get my head around it, but when we lost John, it was as if the movie suddenly stopped, the lights came on and the ushers pulled us from our seats and pushed us out the door into the dark night. As a bassist, I always knew that he was the one who had written the holy words onto the stone tablets and dutifully held them high for us children to see... Thanks for sharing this glimpse into some of the final moments of greatness

I was at this concert when I was 7! So lucky to have gone there!! I just noticed after watching one of the earlier performances of this song, that they use more distortion on this version. There is one positive thing in my opinion that has evolved in rock and that is the increase in distortion! This is probably the best version of this song!!!
