Great reaction!!! well a lot of people do think that their lyrics are not as deep as other groups. However they do have songs which are applies to different situation and do have meaning. 2ne1 wannabe. If you are looking for an amazing girl group you should watch gidle (they're incredible live). As to the OG it is 2ne1, QUEENS of performances. Blackpink got the reject 2ne1 songs and literally patterned their persona to that group Lisa- minzy Rose - park bom Jennie is CL but cl composes songs unlike jennie who came from a rich background and had an issue with being bully and laziness (just search jennie lazy thre are tons of vids out there) Jisoo - Dara Blackpink rose cause came from an unfluential company, YG. their songs are literally meaningless and they do not write songs. Theyve been in the industry since 2016 and yet its only now that they released an album. They do not have any creative input on their materials and they are more known as models. They also use abuse an aesthetic and have culturally appropriated many times over, without apologizing They're basically just a shadow of 2ne1 who are older, but were actually better than this group.

* IN NO WAY IS THIS HATE* I love a lot of BlackPink's music but pretty much everyone has noticed to "formula" Of course not every song fits in, but most, and their most popular ones, fit a very simple set up. the girls have one primary producer, Teddy. Most of the songs he's produced have a similar sound and its pretty noticeable. I've found that the chorus in particular is where the formula is most notable. there are 3 main parts. a key phrase(usually the title), A sound or onomatopoeia of some sort, and a heavy electronic/EDM beat But like I said I still love those songs just as much, but I think their company should allow the girls to explore more sounds and genres. There's nothing wrong with a song formula but it does get a little old if most of their songs are the same.

I am not the biggest fan of their music(it kind of gets old reall quick) but i do really like them as individuals, the girls are so talented and sweet. The latest single Love sick girls and their fist album The Album, that is the sound i would like to hear more from them. I do remember that YG producer once said that Blackpink was meant to be a girlgroup with only smashing singles, thats why they dont have so many songs, but i feel like those kind of song limit their potential. So happy that they at leat gave them a full album this time.
