This bass looks sensational! I'm a real sucker for '70s-style basses, particularly with the block inlays. The guitar also sounds fantastic, but I've never heard a bass in your hands that didn't sound really good. Thanks for this review.

Wuzz up brother! Glad to see a new video! Hope you were ok through Ian! Not to sure where your at I’m in north port we got slammed pretty good, you get that squire J that Lobb modded back yet! That thing screams now!!! I’m surprised at the price of this bass I’ve never heard of them before I’d definitely play one it sounds killer!! Seriously!! That gloss is so sexy!! If my eyes were closed I wouldn’t be able to tell it from a 10k Jazz bass but that’s just me I finally got my NG3 and absolutely love it!!! Finally got to make a couple short vids with it

Bro, I’m completely with you on that. And, most of the players I know locally claim to prefer satin or unfinished. But it’s bullshit, man…. Like, Fender isn’t even doing gloss necks now because of these loudmouths. But there are enough of us out there who know that gloss is the one thing that makes a guitar not feel cheap / lame! It’ll come back around. It’s that vintage mentality that people need to return to.

Yes, I've been playing bass a good while. I never picked up a bass back then if it was lightweight without immediately thinking "cheapo". The reason why they're light now is because it's cheaper. The heavier grades cost more, generally because the grain is tighter, which tends to be more durable.

I have the blue 5 string jazz bass from them and was really impressed, especially for $219. Only reason it's not the one I use the most is that I prefer a wider neck.

How different is the tone from the 60's style J bass you reviewed vs the 70's style? I know one is a 5 string vs the 4 string, but that aside, how different is the tone?

They probably have the same pickups, so the tone is really similar. The only differences would be fretboard material and pickup spacing, which makes only a little difference. The 70’s style bass is probably significantly brighter than the 60’s.
