I Can't Remember A Tournament With More Spicy Decks!!! | cEDH Top 16 Breakdown

Hello Comedian, I'm the Thras/Tevesh player and wanted to shine some light on the list I brought to this event. The Tyvar inclusion is to make the Freed from the Real infinite mana lines go at instant speed as well as having another way to bin Hullbreaker and Razaketh from the top of my library after doing an Imperial Seal or Vamp. The Tyvar can also allow me to double up on a Thoracle ETB (by sacrificing it with Tevesh and reanimating it with Tyvar) or just make a ton of mana with Sanctum Weaver or Bloomtender (Copy artifact still counts as an enchantment toward the count). I also included a Psychic Frog as a means to grind out value and bin my Hullbreaker and Razaketh which has been an absolute MVP of this particular list. Another thing that I think gets overlooked a lot, and was overlooked at the event as well is the very easy ways that I can turn my Shifting Woodland into the Hullbreaker or Razaketh on a land activation to execute the lines. Overall I had a lot of fun bringing and playing this deck at the event. I hadn't been to an event in years and probably could've played better, but was happy with how I did after such a long time away from events. I'm currently working on an alternate variation of this list that I'm testing out right now!

Lapis-Lazuli works where it targets the creature and then you may pay 3 mana. Been a lot of talk about it in the Nadu discord as a value engine. You do not have to pay any mana to get the triggers. - Wounded

@@ComedIanMTG The oracle texts is "Whenever a player casts a blue spell, you may pay {3}. If you do, untap target permanent." so you target and during the resolution you decide to pay 3 or not, but you never pay you just target

Nadu Pilot #1 here, can confirm; card is a house when pods dontvjust turbo out. Bill also providing bowmaster insurance helps. Also event was a cut to 10 due tto attendance.

Hey Ian thanks for reviewing my Yuriko deck! I know its mostly stock but Ive been on tempo/midrange for years and I love it, would love to chat about it if you have any questions. Won my semi final match by Nanogene Conversion'ing in 16 Yuriko triggers on turn 4. Also the 4th place pilot had the wrong deck list uploaded he was on Tymna Malcom, but he is famous for his Akiri list!

CutFlow here! Wheeliod is definitely a crazy deck, we don't really want to be wheeling much since rhystic/ mystic/ TOR are prevalent in the meta and gives us plenty to eat off of. A discount of 3/4 can have the deck pop off and attempt a win line (mainly dispo kitten/ hullbreaker lines). I use to have Codex shredder as another line but didn't have much impact in the games I've played in (definitely the 101st card). Heliod is both fun and a headache to play. Definitely recommend piloting the deck. Great job on the vid!

Happy to see my deck reviewed! I played against Heliod seat 1, Thada seat 2 on my round 2. I had to FoW Heliod's T1 one ring, then Thada stole my one ring T2 and it became 3v1 from there. Thada got infinite mana with hullbreaker combo but failed to spot a win with Lithofrom engine, the game ended in a draw. Very interactive and intense round. I made a small misplay on round 4, else could have gotten 5th for the tournament. Fun experience, I look forward to be a better player and participate in more tournaments!

The Akiri deck reminds me of my casual Kaalia of the Vast infinite turns deck, usually I used isochron sceptre with Final Fortune and any of the angels and other cards that prevent you from losing the game and being able to cheat in the angels to have mana for the isochron sceptre and activation the same turn

I was most impressed with boros making a strong showing, especially an equipment heavy akiri deck. Brewers be brewing!

My close friend runs Akiri & Tymna. It is very equipment focused & does well at our LGS's Cedh tournaments when we have them. It surprises me tbh but it took him a long time to actually figure out what equipment was worth the slots. He has been trying out The Reaver Cleaver & Two-Handed Axe. They are both 3 mana so it is iffy, but damn if they don't have good abilities. I am partial to Two-Headed Axe more because it outright threatens voltron kills sometimes due to the adventure part. Treasures are good and all and they grow Akiri on each attack but Two-Headed Axe can just kill out of nowhere, going from hand, to adventure spell, to battlefield & equpping. He is thinking about swapping Tymna for Jeska but honestly, I think losing black may hurt him, more than help.

i looked at building Wheeliod at one point but i just don't care for non shortcutable loops. you can loop memory jar to mill everyone out, while also looping twisters and other things to assure you have more cards in library so they mill out first. really cool deck tho!

Dan Lewis lets you just smoke people with treasure-equipment with the guys that equip for free or the Burreau Headmaster... you can just easy 15+ somebody out of nowhere and then extra turn and wrap a game up with dockside/reaver cleaver.
