@@malfaroangel3896 Amazon Fire TVs are subsidized by amazon stealing your data. They cost less because the data is worth more to Amazon than whatever money they could have actually charged you for the same TV, that's why they try to hide what actual model of TV it is, since they usually just take an off the shelf design and lightly modify it, put their own software on, and brand it as theirs. By not connecting the TV to a network you're in essence preventing them from extracting payment in the form of your data, getting a discount without any benefit to Amazon. I have absolutely no problem with this, your device should be your device for you to do what you want with, you shouldn't be forced to network it if you don't want to.

In the UK Argos stock a lot of Amazon Fire products, so it's not impossible one of these might be on display in a store somewhere. (For those unfamiliar with Argos, it was Amazon before there was Amazon; it's basically a warehouse that sells everything, you rock up, pick your item from their catalogue (it used to be a big fat papery book, but sadly those days are gone), pay for it, hang around for a few minutes while it's picked, and it emerges on a conveyor belt ready for collection.) As for saving your wifi credentials to Amazon, it's actually not so bad - as far as I can tell you can't actually *access* them from anywhere, but it means if you order an Amazon device and pick the "add my account to this device" option when you order it it'll just work out of the box, and I'd be far more worried about people buying stuff if they hacked my account rather than being able to connect to my wifi!

My FireTV just died last Sunday, 58 inch insignia at about 5 years old. The backlight died because I didn't have it in eco mode for that time. The FireOS was TERRIBLE and only got worse with time. When I got it, FireOS had no ads on the home screen, but slowly Amazon filled it with more and more ads, yet, as you experienced at 13:00, the apps ran like shit. Kind of an important note on top of the differences between the 55 and 65 of the U8N. the 55U8N, is essentially the 55U8K from last year with a few small tweaks. the 65U8N is an actual upgrade to the previous year's by quite a bit in terms of brightness (2500 vs 1400 in 2% window) and dimming zones (1600 vs 1008) the 55 has 672 dimming zones for each model and similar brightness. if you can spring for the 65, it's a much better value for what you get.

7:20 They lock down the Picture settings to when you're in the input/App - its like this on all Fire TV firmware. It seems janky at first, but its because its fully independent for each input which is quite nice (Also my fire TV is TCL branded so likely they use TCL for all their TVs) The lack of an input button is criminal but the realistically within a year the Fire TV firmware will be slow af (So you'll likely have a separate TV device) - plus CEC is very reliable on these TVs. My Fire TV remote has been sitting in a drawer for months and I either use my Apple TV remote or pickup my game controller and it always turns on and switches correctly.
